You'd think the players would have whip round for them they're all probably on minimum wage? I bought something recently from the club shop and then in an email I joked about this  and they went fat chance!

They do. Well at some clubs they do anyway, not sure if Leicester players do.

Not sure they would for the club shop staff as they would have a lack of contact with them.

But I'm pretty sure they would for the people that are in and around the team, on match days and around the training ground.

Be weird if the players went round the club shop handing out presents though I think.

I''d say it would almost be insulting...

What a weird post… why should the players have a whip around for the staff? People take jobs at different skill levels knowing what the reward is.

Do and your colleagues have a whip around for everyone in your workplace who is paid less than you?

Totally agree with every word you said.  I doubt they are on minimum wage anyway. Maybe the poster works in the shop?

Micah Richards said on the rest is football podcast that presents get shared with the people that have personal relationships with the players like the kit man, masseur, chef etc.

I bet the presents are things like Lynx Africa sets and selection boxes as well 😂

Actually yes, it's quite common for leaders in departments to buy the employees gifts. Your post is the weird one.

The players and especially the club already do a lot for the city and the community. Its not the players responsibility to do 'whip rounds'. The staff and everyone connected to the club would be on a good wage and get 'perks' for working at the club or stadium. In all walks of life there will be people that earn considerably more than other people but it is up to them what they do with their money that they have earned and it is no one elses business.

The players are not the leaders of the club though, if Top wants to give everyone a Christmas bonus, that’s great and will be applauded.

But the players and the club shop staff are just employees of the company who work in very different departments, where their paths would rarely cross. It’s an odd suggestion to think the higher paid employees should have a whip-round for lower paid employees. I’m not aware of this happening in any other walk of life.

This is an odd thread.

I understand the sentiment behind it - players earn astronomical amounts and many of the clubshop employees will exist below the threshold of what most would consider comfortable.

However, the players aren't responsible for rewarding the sales and marketing branch of the club by any means. It's the club's decision to operate such a large club shop selling the tat they do. The 'fashion' brands and so on have come at a cost at some point - R&D, designers, factory workers and so on. Footballers shouldn't be expected to subsidise that.

Those employees have their jobs because of the clubs attempts at profiteering. It's the club shop themselves - managers and department leads - that should be responsible for any 'whip rounds' rather than the players. There isn't a correlation between club shop staff and player outcomes/financials. There's likely a direct link between club shop sales and club shop manager bonuses, however.

Thought this was a shock news story thread, players whip it out for staff for a couple seconds there.

Had flashbacks to the story abroad when sex allegations were made, the first time not the second with the video when thinking about it:ph34r:

Totally agree me and my Staff have a whip round for our cleaning lady every Christmas to show our appreciation, it's not weird at all.
