Rob Dorsett is suddenly more reliable than Ornstein because he's saying what we want to hear?

What about if Brighton put it in the public domain to try to.unsettle KDH, and the club have told Dorsett to report what he has

Is this any different to Ornstein, except that our asking price is much higher?

Only major difference is the addition that we don't want to sell, which Ornstein didn't specify. Might think "duh", but it's at least nice to see written down. Orstein's article seemed pretty upbeat about Brighton's chances from what is basically an enquiry. This at least makes clear we're nowhere near a point of sale. I don't think it's happening. Orstein says "if a compromise is reached", this doesn't make it seem like we're interested in compromising.

If clubs are genuinely interested in him this window why would they come in so late? Surely it makes it much harder for them to get him, given we’d have less time for replacements

That and according to Dorsett KDH himself isn't convinced, no mention of that from Ornstein. If the player's not that arsed, we don't want to sell and neither interested party is anywhere near meeting the asking price then barring a pretty dramatic turnaround on multiple fronts it's not happening.

Same source that gives me the team every week reckons that apparently KDH doesn’t even want to go. Not that it means a lot in this modern day football day and age even if true.

Well i suppose with the club/Enzo  stating we need to sell before we can buy, any buying club will feel if they leave it late, they can get him cheaper because we might be desperate to get some sort of money in, so we can get any targets we may have.

Personally i can`t see this happening, because we may as well keep KDH, who has been an integral part of our side and form, even if that means we have to go with what we have, and can`t bring anyone in our selves.

I don`t believe he is a 30 million pound player to any other club personally, but at this moment in time, he is probably worth even more than that to us.

Exactly. The strong implication of Ornstein’s piece was that we wanted to sell. By contrast, Dorsett’s story suggests we definitely do NOT want to sell. Very different angles.

These speculative non-transfers must be going on all the time. Agents talking to clubs and strategically leaking it when it suits. Tentative enquiries that have no foundation and never progress will be common place and journalists occasionally get a nod and a wink. Filing this one in the silly season bin.

Kdh out, josh Brownhill in

Meltdownnnnnn (me included)

Seriously though, although I don't think kdh is as good as he thinks he is, this late in the window, surely not .. unless we've found an unpaid bill in a drawer.

The question remains is, are we as a club stupid enough to put ourselves in a position where we potentially could be short and vulnerable……… answer is yes unfortunately.

No chance we can be that stupid though, to sell a key player at this stage, when we are so close to getting promoted back to the PL. No way 😩

Web search:  “David Ornstein has become synonymous with Arsenal fans for being the font of all knowledge when it comes to the goings on in north London.” Original report was of Arsenal and Brentford interest too…Who are the Gunners trying to prise out of Brighton? Or Brentford?

Sounds to me he wants better than Brighton.  And fair enough really. It would take something special for him to leave Leicester, I guess…

Of course he'd be interested in going to Brighton, they're a better club than us and have an elite manager with some really forward thinking people running the club. He was up for going to Fulham in the summer and they're shit, so he'd definitely be up for Brighton

Better club!!!! Nah, just flavour of the month like we were 8 years ago with our recruitment that clicked at the time. Those wheels will come off soon.

Few clubs in the Premier League make significant purchases in January. Especially when they aren't part of the rich six and the asking price is upwards of £30m.

We shall see

I hate to say it but there have been some serious overreactions in this thread. lol

no one wants to lose KDH. I certainly don’t. It would be terrible, but it wouldn’t be a disaster.

the disaster of course would be not replacing him. And in fairness the recruitment policy so far this season has been excellent so, I don’t   want them to, and it would be a gamble if they did, but If we sell him for 40m spend 30m on 3-4 replacements, it could give us a nice balance to the squad . If we can get in a couple of no 8s similar quality to mavididi and Fatawu, a new LB defender/MD and an attacking midfielder all for the price of KDH and some extra to comply with FFP then that wouldn’t be a disaster. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.

preferred option would still be to keep KDH, of course…

In the summer, that is understandable… if we were only mid table I would get it. You don’t sell when you are on the verge of promotion though it is the most ridiculous thing any club can do.

And for him to learn how to use his right foot. Then we could sell for 50 million,
