Popular Post boots60 Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 OK, Ill go first, I thought Enzo was "The Messiah" & don't mind admitting I got it totally wrong. I want to be entertained for my £500 a season & its not happening, our results are largely going against us & this is the most frustrating Leicester side I have ever known, Not the worst side, obviously, but at present overwhelmingly under performing & dull to watch. I briefly enjoyed "Enzoball" but have had enough & the rest of this season is not something I am looking forward to. Anyone else admit they were wrong? 22
Popular Post BenTheFox Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 (edited) To be honest, I got a bit giddy about him simply because he said a lot of the right things and wasn't Brendan Rodgers. Our performances have been underwhelming for most of the season and they certainly haven't gotten better. I still quite like the bloke, but his football is stifling us massively. Popular Post Otis Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 Hated this style of play from day one. I too wonder if those who called others too thick to appreciate Enzoball still feel the same way. 23 1
Popular Post Arriba Los Zorros Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 When he was appointed I thought he was going to be shit, then I thought he was a genius after 5 games or so, now I don't know what to think. The overall points tally would already be enough for promotion most seasons, and that would be job done 4 1
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I sat watching the home defeat to Hull BORED, and knew then that he was not what we wanted, Fraud , get him out 1

Dahnsouff Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I have not given up quite yet, but he will be gone anyway so it matters little. 1
sylofox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Always like to give a few games before I judge a manager or player. After a few games it was obviously Rodgers ball played by better players in a lower league. But as we was winning it didn't matter. I did hope he unlike Rodgers would have something up his sleave for when it stopped working. Sadly he's no different to Rodgers other than he don't throw everyone else under the bus. Seems like a great guy but I won't be sad when he's gone. 1
Tommy G Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 First few pages of the Enzo thread make intersting reading.

But the way he has it in his head that you need to do it at all times is utterly bizarre. He’s been brainwashed by pep, but for pep he has the best tools so it’s going to work but the second it’s not effective pep would change. Enzo is reading off of someone else’s script and doesn’t appear to have any other ideas of his own Edited 10 April 2024 by Lambert09 10
Popular Post Tommy G Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 Next season we will be competing at the top of the table. Enzo is a mastermind, a genius some might say. With the right backing (which he will get) he could turn us into a team fighting for Europe again, the big question is how long can we keep him for. My personal favourite 1 1 13
Popular Post Footballwipe Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 I kept quiet for most of this season cos every time I came on this forum and someone mooted the style of football they were pounced upon. I found the football really dull and matches dreary from quite early on, but this place made me feel like a dinosaur tbh. However, there was also some realisation from me that I would saddle up and get on board - after all we were making a mockery of the league. That being said, the point of my post is that it was understandable for people to be fully fledged Enzo-ites. We swept the first portion of the season and ultimately results matter. We were well clear and sauntering back up. We'd be promoted already and on course for record totals if we'd kept that early form up. How can people not get swept up in that? 19

Popular Post Tielemans63 Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 (edited) Happy to admit I was wrong. I was so impressed at first, but it's become pretty apparent that, while Plan A is pretty solid, there is no Plan B. Games feel like they've gone once we go behind which is horrible. We had more than half an hour left when we conceded yesterday, but the game already felt like it had gone. There's a big difference between leading the best U21 team in the country to a PL2 title and managing in a proper league. Other managers have had Enzo sussed since around December time and he doesn't seem to know what to do about it. Edited 10 April 2024 by Tielemans63 5
Popular Post teblin Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 I think the problem is that people over react both in a positive and negative way. Some people loved Nigel others didn’t. Some people like Enzo others don’t. 12
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I was a fan boy, less of a fan boy now though. Still think he has time to sort it out, but I’m not holding my breath. For some reason I can’t help but draw comparisons to Peter Taylor - which may sound ridiculous (and probably is). But we had an unbelievable start with both, but then a sharp decline. Taylor was clearly out of his depth, and I hope Enzo drags us over the line - but if he doesn’t you could argue he’s out of his depth given our lead a few months ago.
Popular Post Ricey Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 I struggled at times earlier in the season as despite the winning most matches the performances were often unconvincing. But I, like many others, put that down to the players still learning this new system. We all hoped that there were several more gears to move into. The reality is that Enzo was a much needed breath of fresh air for the players in the summer and that enabled us to hit the ground running. The players adapted fairly well to the new style, perhaps because it wasn't really that new compared to Rodgers' style. But as the season wore on, it was concerning that we weren't winning more games more comfortably. I think I can count on one hand the games we have won convincingly. Most, if not every, match had a period of time where we looked toothless or all over the place. Normally at end of matches, after going ahead or whenever the opposition decided to go at us a bit more. Even when we were 17 points clear, in terms of performances, it felt paper thin. Over the course of the season more and more teams have discovered the way to frustrate us. By this point, the blueprint is so clear we might as well have faxed it around to every other club ourselves. Enzo at the beginning of the season needed to be a coach, but as the season has progressed we've needed him to be a manager. That is where he's fallen short. In regards to tactical flexibility, in-game management, rotation of the squad or instilling a ruthlessness into players, he's gone totally missing. He has incredible stubbornness for such a young manager and it's costing us. Away from results, I've struggled all season with the style of play. It's too often painfully dull and when things don't go our way, it looks pretty pathetic. That's not just on Enzo, it was also the case with Rodgers. For the last few years our teams have been slow, soft, predictable and totally lacking in any sort of mental strength. I'm sick of it to be honest. 17 1
STEVIE B Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 (edited) I liked the style of football, almost had a diet Man City vibe about it. Now it's obvious he has no plan B, is stubborn & has somehow blown a massive, near promotion certainties lead, the jury is most definitely out. If we do somehow mess this up, l do fear for the future. Edited 10 April 2024 by STEVIE B
bmt Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I still think he's decent but agree on the point about having a back up plan. Yesterday was truly atrocious and we had no variation at all except a few longer balls that were easily dealt with. I think one of the key problems is your players need to be near perfect to pull off this chess-like strategy. We give away a goal every game and misplaced passes mean we don't slowly build up pressure with increasing overloads in midfield that gradually break a team down. Still don't think when it works that it's boring, but that's a different argument. Weirdly I do think his style would work better in the prem where teams won't just defend against us and try and nick a goal. I don't agree at all that it's Rodgers-ball but do think we are seeing significant weaknesses to this different style. 2
Trev3939 Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I still hold the view that his football will work, I know it’s not fully yet. If we had won yesterday no one would have been suggesting this, so so reactionary
bmt Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 He has turned Vestergaard into a good player though and that deserves plaudits 4

I too wonder if those who called others too thick to appreciate Enzoball still feel the same way. The style of play IS boring and tedious, but if it gets results, then great! (???). However, it became evident very quickly that there was no plan B. I posted on here a couple of times that a fall-back plan was needed - and, NO, I was not saying hoof the ball up to a giant centre-forward - I was simply saying vary it a bit, and play to the players strengths. Good God! I was called a dinosaur, I knew nothing about football, constant references to 'jumpers for goalposts' and on and on and on. I was only suggesting that we didn't stick rigidly to something that wasnt working - but I sure wished I hadnt bothered! 3
st albans fox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 there are many ways around a circle enzo delivered one which was working amazingly well - better than anyone thought possible. that's not to say it was the most pleasing on the eye for many. but it delivered wins, week after week. the trick for a coach is to adapt to a changing situation. rotate some players to keep them fresh. enzo has failed miserably on those two factors. if we stumble across the line and manage to recruit cleverly (no not him) then perhaps he can evolve other ways of playing with more squad options available to him that he trusts.
