Every season Everton look awful and every season they wriggle out of it somehow. They are the turd that won't flush.

Definitely the opposite of 'there's always a bigger fish' :P

Just when you thought football couldn't get any more money driven, Barcelona want to play Atletico Madrid in Miami, not a friendly, a la liga game!

If this happens then it will be a greedy six club next, most likely Chelsea, Liverpool or Manure.

(Manure would probably get more Mancunians in the crowd playing in America).

Football as we know and love it is ending.

When was it the last time that four clubs collectively didn't get a win after 8 league games?

It seems like a niche statistic.

Never happened before in top flight history according to Sky commentator.

He just won MOTM. Chelsea look leaps and bounds better than last season.

Why the obsession?

There's no obsession I just want to see him fail. Walked without a seconds thought and I honestly believe we would've struggled badly with his turgid football.

I honestly don’t think supporters would let it happen in England.

I think a lot of owners of top six sides were shaken a bit by the response to the Super League and quickly backed down. The only was to get it through would be to completely turn your back on your core supporter group and rely on the tourists money coming in and filling the stadium.

Didn't see the club putting up any fight to keep him which suggests they needed the money Chelsea were prepared to offer. He was also very intelligent and the fact he rightly questioned poor decisions made at board room level didn't sit comfortably with the hierarchy. I don't think he'll fail at Chelsea, he'll get the quality of players in who can make his system of play very effective. His only downfall, for me, is that he stubbornly sticks to playing the same style even when it's not working.

Palace, who you would say are an established premier league side and from the outside looking in you would say there is something not right within the camp. They’ve lost two big players for them in Olise & Andersen which’ll be having an effect. But you would still think they’d be in a better position than they are.

Wolves, you would fancy to beat them at home and at least take a point away from home. Continually losing their best players, also getting rotten luck with decisions. For me you just don’t feel like they could even go on a run of 2/3 games winning at the minute.

People may have personal preferences over football styles and you are, of course, welcome to not be a huge fan of Maresca’s style but “turgid” is such an obvious over reaction that it sabotages your own argument. 97 points, second best second tier finish in our history, second most goals in the league, best defence in the league, second best xG, etc. It was demonstrably, objectively not “turgid”. You would make a better case for yourself if you didn’t go quite so over the top. It just comes across a little bit silly.

At times to watch though it wasn’t the most enthralling of things to see though was it? The stats all look great of course but they only tell a certain amount of the story. There were a lot more games than not that seemed like we struggled, huffed and puffed our way through it all.

I think it's a case of a lot of people there being unsettled.

Guehi doesn't want to be there, Eze is still putting a shift in but I imagine he wanted to go in the summer too. Even Dougie Freedman looked like he was phoning it in this summer expecting to go to Newcastle.... by his near immaculate transfer record recently, that Nketiah signing sticks out like a sore thumb!

Not to mention the inexplicable benching of Wharton, no idea what is going on there. Similarly Matteta hardly getting a kick after saving them last season.

Like you say, something doesn't seem right, Glasner feels like a hard nosed type character who might well be rubbing players up the wrong way.

You are wholly correct. But turgid it was not.

Genuinely thought Palace would have a good season, especially as they finished last season on fire. Losing Olise was big, but I’ve always rated Daichi Kamada and thought he’d slot in without a great deal of fuss. But something is just off there at the moment

Wonder when Roy gets the call again?

I hope you're right but frankly l don't trust the EPL and United in particular have an extremely cosmopolitan fanbase.

Also, there is a massive demand for tickets and a waiting list for season tickets so would "it's only one game" put off the regular supporters?

They would grumble for sure, but boycott?

The superleague WILL happen but by the backdoor imao, we'll start to see more games in the champions league (happening), and the greedy six will either drop out of the league cup and FA cup or play entire youth teams in them.

It's a tried and trusted method to push through an unpopular measure - change by degree until one day we all say " how did we get here?"

Personally, l'd say good riddance if the greedy six buggered off!

I think it's more to do with the fact that no team came to the King Power to attack. Even when we went 1-0 up teams generally just thought "ah **** it lets make sure we don't embarrass ourselves". Was a full season of playing against 11 defenders.

Also worth pointing out that the players were still only high Championship/low Premier League standard. Not like you can expect 8/9 out of 10 every week from players who lack that consistency like you could expect from the Man City side.

With certain clubs you can just tell can’t you. Parish isn’t afraid to get rid, if they’re still in this situation come the next international break wouldn’t be surprised to see him gone.

Think it was @foxfanazer that asked the other day if any other teams have scored in every league game this season, apart from ourselves and Man City.

Championship:

Sunderland

League One:

Wycombe

None in League Two.

National League:

Oldham

He has a problem atm with textor who clearly doesn’t want to be there any longer.  I wonder if parish has sole discretion over decisions like that.  Of course textor hardly wants to see his investment shrink with a relegation but you wonder how much the owners are all on the same page.

Doesn't really bother me. I know I'm unlikely to be able to afford to watch Barcelona v A Madrid live (or Chelsea v Liverpool for that matter). Football has always been evolving. I remember the days when people in the game really thought football in England  was close to ending, with unsafe stadiums and major fan trouble.. Crowds were down everywhere, and here in Leicester we could have attendances of below 10,000. It did mean poorer folk like me could afford to go to home and away games, pay cash at the turnstiles and choose where you wanted to go in the ground. I seem to remember one season there was no Match of the Day, as the Beeb thought there wasn't enough demand to pay the broadcast rights. Times have changed.

This stat just feels weird. I know it’s right, but I sit and watch most of our games thinking we really struggle to create, yet we can’t stop scoring!! 🤔

To me, it's not that shocking. Fatawu, Mavididi and Buonanotte, despite none of them proven at this level, are extremely high quality attacking players for a newly promoted side and Vardy, even at 37, is still Vardy.

Arsenal away is the only game that surprises me we did as well as we did to score 2 in considering we only had about 3 shots on target lol

I don't agree with this.

There was a small bit of protest and the media blew it out of proportion. 'Oh my god the fans have had their day'.

One game got called off. It wasn't strong enough. Sky co-opted it as a story in order to diminish it.
