dean smith is their pearson, emery is more their Rodgers, before the titanic hit the ice berg

Very kind on Rodgers that. Emery is actually capable of doing something in Europe (won the Europa League FOUR times!) whereas Brendan has historically stunk the place out the moment his sides get into a UEFA competition.

No thought about how this will then push at least 2 clubs back into non-league football & into the operating unknown.

Why not just take another leaf out of Rugby's rule book & just limit the amount of games a player can play per season across all levels; league, domestic cups, europe, internationals & friendlies.
I know its for different reasons that Rugby do it but they are calling out player welfare put the onus back on the clubs, managers & players themselves to manage player welfare via use of their bloated squads.

I'd introduce HIA's as well the amount of time i see them holding their heads after been brushed by a finger tip.

The Greedy Six were lobbying for a reduction to 18 PL clubs even before they were using the threat of a super league to try to push it through.

Any change that reduces the number of hard-to-sell (to casual fans and broadcasters) fixtures in favor of money-spinning name-club matches, they are pushing and politicking for 24/7.

if I were Man U, though, I’d be careful what I wished for. Relegation for finishing 16th would be a knife to their throat.

Perhaps but emery has so far won nothing with villa whereas Brendan did win the FA Cup.  I’d say on paper Brendan had achieved better with us than Emery has thus far with villa. But that comes down to whether you’d prefer champions league football or a trophy

You could say, technically, there's only 2 relegation places 'up for grabs' if Man City get demoted for the over-100 charges hanging over them..

So the Villa captain has done an interview stating that Emery will go down as one of the all time Villa greats.

I get that he’s transformed the club and they are playing well.. but talk about setting your standards low.. he’s not won a piece of silverware yet!  Let him win something.. even a cup competition and then say he’s an all time great..

Went to the Villa CL game mid week (through work) and they love unai Emery more than their own kids.

they also have a song they sing about Martinez being the number 1 keeper in the world. He’s good, but I don’t think he’s the best in the world.

I just don't see that happening.  I think everyone knows they cheated but the Premier take care of their own.

Totally get that they love him.. and so they should.. he’s transformed the club.. they were near the bottom when he took over and look at them now! But surely he has to win something  before he’s described as one of the greatest….

Unsure how I feel about this. Regulator was surely suggested to ensure the Prem/EFL carried out order and ran the league correctly, without ****ing over fans etc

I'm unsure why this should then come into the remit

Politicians deciding how to run things outside politics is scary

the independent regulator (assume won’t be one person ) should be looking at things and making judgments  - not being prompted by politicians.   If it looks like this then I doubt we’ll get anyone decent putting themselves forward for the regulator role.

The PL have made such a mess of a seemingly great product. They now spend at least £130m a year on legal fees, taking their own clubs to tribunals.

The government will probably make it even worse though!!

Out of interest what is the point of a red card for a manager as they are still mic’d up to the bench and are in the dressing room giving instructions before and during play?

"They play with courage", "Why should they change?".

A couple of comments i've just heard when they've just been discussing Southampton.

Erm, because it's a load of bollocks and nonsense :dunno:

By all means carry on though!

A red card for a manager should mean the next team they play get to pick a player to be banned
