He’s not doing 30yrd diagonal crosses to the wingers, he’s not steaming into the box to get on the end of a cut back or threading Tielemens style thru-balls into the forwards but that’s not the position’s role.

 

We need money and if someone was to offer good money then I’d take it and get Collins in for sure but if they don’t I’d expect Skipp to be 1 of the 1st names on the sheet not because of his price tag or assumed wage but because he’s probably the best we currently have at doing the churn.

 

Does he actually do the churn though?

 

A DM that does that would either have high numbers for tackles/ground duels or interceptions.

 

Skipp from memory doesn’t stand out in either.

 
It’s ok to admit that Skipp has been financially an awful signing.

 

He doesn’t appear to be a douche like Winks, Faes and Jannik etc but he’s one of many reasons, as to why we have declined so much since Cooper.

I worry about this lad as a single pivot even at this level. Too slow to react, slow on the ball, doesn’t put enough pace into his pass. Not particularly creative to counter that lack of pace. He’s not a pinger of a passer, doesn’t carry the ball with much intensity and he’s only ok defensively. Can’t help thinking if we dropped (and sold?) Skipp and played Braybrooke there we would benefit from his more creative and fast single pivot qualities and then we’d also be able to bring in even more quality into the team to start like Page or Howell.

I genuinely think he could be one of the biggest wastes of money in any clubs history, he can't run, he can't pass, he can't really defend and has about 3 good games a season. The fact he miscontrolled it as often as he did today in league one is genuinely insane for a £20 million midfielder.

100% spot on! Kept under hitting his passes all game and keeps tripping over the ball.

I'm still convinced he has some sort of premature ageing condition, which seems to be giving him a hunchback, a bald head and arthritis.

Deliberates over the most basic of passes — not ideal considering water carrying seems to be his only function in the side. Often played alongside someone more creative but he isn't aggressive, mobile, combative, positionally aware.

 

Ndidi has been the only midfielder we've signed since the summer of 2016 who has been capable of making a tackle and destroying - he wasn't perfect but whenever he was injured our midfield always looked horribly imbalanced and easy to play through because we had/have no one else who could manage to do the job he did.

 

Our defenders over the past 5 years should all be tried at the Hague but they're always left hugely exposed because we are paying good money for subpar footballers like Skipp to jog around near the ref. Good honest pro though.

have to take any offers for him and just move him on. If any interest just sell. He doesn’t come across as a negative person and always tries. Just he is not very good. 

certainly should not play as a 6 again.that should be Braybrooke.

He was absolutely awful. I’m struggling to think of a player with a worse touch, on either side, yesterday. It was just embarrassing.

His athleticism his below average for a position that requires covering a lot of ground and being able to spring for the loose ball. He is often not where he needs to be and was left wanting yesterday. He has no discernable attacking qualities so he is pretty poor. That pivot requires crisp first time passes under pressure which Winks could do say 95% of the time. Skipp more like 70% which is too low. I called him top 5 worst ever signings with £ involved and I stand by it even though some disagreed. Rudkin should never work in football again for sanctioning that deal.

Should never be starting I could run around quicker, he rarely gets near a player cause he so slow get him out the team ffs all he does is pass 5 yards and get in the way and looks like a big baby running around in a football kit

I’ve oddly defended Skipp at times.
 

However, yesterday was one poor performance too much.

 

As others have stated, he had a trampoline first touch yesterday.

 

Between him and Thomas, I genuinely saw more loose first touches than I did/do when playing football at the weekends.

 

What do they practice in training and not see this when analysing the game?

I think that people on here are quite capable of appreciating the water carriers.  They are also quite capable of calling out garbage when they see it.
