his set pieces are ****ing dogshit but he at least looks capable of being mediocre at this level.

That's a bit harsh...His first corner was a great delivery, then headed back post by Okoli and Vestergaard should have scored.

Shouldn’t be playing upfront

But then it is a question of how to get both him and Bilal in to the side when we also hopefully get a proper striker

Still fancy that problem will resolve itself. :(

He’s not a no 9 as we need

doesn’t make the runs to stretch defences and create space for others to exploit

daka is better as that

if BEK leaves then expect ayew to play a withdrawn striker/ ten role behind daka or a new CF.

He is useful as he can usually trap the ball and bring others into play, not something we have too many capable of doing, as our forwards are mostly about charging forward, except Monga.

Unpopular opinion: I've always thought Jordan was alright lol Nothing spectacular, but a decent player who puts a shift in (most of the time). I don't mind him.

I think if he was the free transfer rather than Bobby Reid it would be seen as a much better signing

Just really wasn't a fan of us spending £5m on him and £20m+ on Skipp within a few days haha

I can definitely see why Palace fans loved him

Serious question.

If Bannan doesn’t get sent off, it’s not the first game of the season and their players aren’t dropping like flies with cramp, would he have been as effective?

I don’t actually mind Ayew coming off the bench, but if he’s a 90 minute player, at any league (at this stage of his career) then we’re in for a slog of a season.

Weren't people moaning about wanting an Okazaki like player with good work rate to compliment our striker? If we can get a striker, then we possibly have one on our hands in Ayew.

Think his best position for us is going to be the 10 role if/when El Khannous leaves. Pretty clever player with nice touches but has no pace or physical presence to be leading the line. Not sure why hes taking free kicks though. Has no power behind his shots whatsoever to challenge the goalie

Same here. I suspect too many are comparing him unfairly to JV, and we won't see his like again.

He was absolutely awful until the subs and he was no longer the 9.

People just got massive recency bias because he finished the game OK against ten knackered Wednesday players when he finally got a more free role. Even at the end he wasted half decent chances a couple of times by shooting straight at the keeper from outside the box.

The run he went on to set up Daka's header was good but they were absolutely running on fumes at that point.

First seventy odd minutes he was terrible. Just slowed the game down whenever he got the ball.

Glad someone else has said it. I thought he was honestly rubbish up until that point.

Will give him credit for how he ended the game. Was genuinely unplayable. Such a bizarre player.

There's always a handful who want a player to run around like a headless chicken. Dates back to the days of Ian Hulme.

For some, a player can run around like mad for 75 - 80 minutes and they have had a good game

He was pretty crap as the 9, then Daka came on, and he dropped into the 10 and became the best player on the pitch for 20-30 mins.

Daka can’t finish but he moves opposition defenders around a lot and presses high, we really need that movement to get things going with the rest of that front 4. Any new striker needs to be able to do this too, and ideally finish 🤣

Agreed. He played the role he should have- slowing it down and holding it up towards the end when we are winning. But he also did it in the first half when we needed urgency. He cannot be first choice. We desperately need a new striker.

Weird player, looks knackered at kick offc then does that run towards the end of the game.

Need a much more dynamic striker, but Ayew will be useful this season.

All well and good him dropping in to get ball to feet but he needs runners beyond him, for that reason I’d play Daka as he does run beyond and creates space despite not being great when he gets on the ball. Desperately need a striker in though!
