Turns up wearing trainers with a suit, boy we sure were lucky.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I'm often amused by what is thought as smart these days

Are we approaching flip of a coin territory - that we wait for 1 July find the cash for Röhl or punt on Dyche or run scared of PSR and keep RVN?

And if we stick with RVN is anyone really happy

  1. RVN - having repeatedly said there have been no discussions on the Summer and he struggled to say outright (when questioned by Owynn) that he even wanted the job (which is a bad joke!)- this option is hardly ideal.
  2. The players - we know there is a group who are definitely out ....but maybe this is less of an issue if the Club can clean house early.
  3. A large section of fans I don't see coming around.......unless from game 1 there is a Martin O'Neill style rejuvenation and we p*ss the league....and that's unlikely (especially with a points deduction).

Meh

Look much better than Ruuds shifty turtleneck.

Whoever our manager is, they need to use the potential points deduction to their advantage. It's the perfect thing to create a siege mentality. Us against them. Everyone is out to get us, let's prove them wrong type of thing. This is the sort of thing that Pearson was brilliant at and we know first hand how effective it can be.

Pains me to say it, but could that be an ideal environment for the ginger mourinho?

I'd forgotten about him and was it Nigel Worthington at somepoint too

Hopefully not going back to those times

I find this whole situation weird!

I don’t understand wtf going on. No communication of any sorts, about anything! The manager situation is even weirder, even if they don’t want RVN, they should be communicating with him, just incase we have to keep him. Now if we do keep him, he’s going to totally piss@d off!
I am beginning to think, Top and his board are deliberately doing this, because, they feel we should be grateful for the success we had in the past!

For me, as a supporter for over 40 years, I’ve never felt so disengaged with the club.

Nigel Worthington would have been better than Russell Martin 😂

I really don't understand the not sacking him because of not affording he compensation in this financial year. What happens when we wait until July 1st, get a crap manager and end up sacking 2 managers in one financial year anyway.

Especially when gardening leaves exists

Some Boro fans on Carrick, sounds like the ideal King Power appointment

He always plays the same style of football. Against teams who sit in we have no clue, no plan B. We are drifting along to miss out again. Too much sideways and backwards football for me. If we could shoot straight we could score a lot more. Carrick does not change things in games when it obviously isn't working. At times, the bench is better than what's on the pitch. So frustrating. We can pass teams off a pitch but can't win when we need to.

Sadly, the Boro team are exhibiting the sanguine demeanour of its manager out on the pitch. Neil identified and exploited the soft underbelly and went for it. There's not much appetite for the fight amongst the players and their propensity to play conservative slow side-to-side football is costing us dear.

We've had communication about season ticket sale's, even with a thank you, but no appreciation about last season for our support during one of the worst seasons in the clubs history. Snubbed :@

I'd agree if our club had shown any sign that they look further than the next 12 months when making decisions

Sadly they can't look beyond the end of their noses

Doesn't stop you sounding candidates out and merely telling them that we can't officially be interested or sign you before a certain date would it. You don't have to literally sit on your hands and not be proactive behind the scenes do you!

If I can slightly play Carricks promo guy here (and I’m not, think he’s a huge work in progress)

.

1) no plan B against sides that sit in is probably the most common complaint from any fan who’s team play possession based football. A coach can’t all of a sudden turn round at 60 minutes and 0-0 say “let’s shove it up to a big guy”. Yes there should be invention and variation but it’s a common and often lazy argument

2 & 3) these actually just point to poor finishing and a frustration that whilst the football is good, they don’t see the rewards in goals. Again, this can be down to player quality.

I’m not saying Carrick doesn’t have faults, but if we are going with another “possession based” coach, he’s not as stubborn as Martin and probably has a good amount of development as a coach ahead of him.

I’d personally still rather see us go for Rohl, and someone a bit more front foot, high press, high intensity.

Officially a championship club tomorrow. Let’s manifest a Ruud sacking and Rohl appointment.

No chance either of those happen but here’s to manifesting.

I see a lot of comments from Boro fans describing him as having no plan B, being too tippy-tappy, being too predictable.

Admittedly they also say they played some great football in his first season, but they got progressively worse under him.

Can’t set up a defence and his Boro side were too soft.

His style of play though is similar to what we’ve seen over the years, his methods are exactly what the King Power hierarchy usually go for.

It’s not as insufferable as Russell Martin’s possession game, but you’ll still get a lot of slow, backwards and sideways football.
