Unless I have forgotten one, This season will be our 5th relegation in the modern premier league era. Currently statistically it's the worst (0.58 points per game) but is it in your opinion the worst side we've had? Here is the competition.

94/95: 0.69 points per game

Managed by Brian little who's city side managed to secure promotion via the play offs at the 3rd attempt.

01/02: 0.78 points per game

Peter Taylor's relatively expensive side imploded the side eventually went down under Dave basset. Some good wins against villa and spurs after we were mathematically relegated makes the points per game a little better but be under no illusions this was a long slog of a season.

03/04: 0.86 points per game this was one of the better sides to watch on the list with izzet, Marcus bent etc it was involved in several 7+ goal thrillers usually on the wrong end of the scoreline.

22/23: 0.89 points per game the best points per game on the list but also criminal that a side with Madison, Barnes, Tilemans etc were in this position.

I was going to go on about those different relegations,  but no this is the worst by some distance.

Yes and by some distance. Nothing about them. We were out of our depth under Little/Mcghee but that team would’ve been embarrassed with the (lack of) basic effort and mental strength of these lot - Robert’s, Draper and Joachim would’ve beaten them.

Under Adams and the dads army, we lacked quality in defence but can you imagine how much fun Ferdinand, Dickov and Bent would’ve had against Faes, Coady and Vestegaard.

There is absolutely nothing to like about this team. The club is in the worst state it’s ever been. And before anyone says, League One blah blah. This lot, from the owner down has killed hope - I don’t think I’ve ever had this feeling before about city a I hate them for it. It’s unforgivable. This is the worst LCFC I’ve ever seen.

You can make some allowances for those other sides.

This team is expensively assembled and through a lack of ability, legs, desire or will is just abysmal, coached by an abysmal manager part of an abysmal, dysfunctional club.

I disagreed with this view a few months ago, but I am in full agreement now. It’s got so pathetic that home fans are mocking and laughing at the team. I don’t think they’re even trying now, which I’ve only ever said of the 22/23 shit show - but this worse. They lack ideas, effort and just go through the motions a lot even when we’re just a goal down.

You can go back further than the PL era. Never thought I would see a worse top flight side than Frank McLintock's 77/78 City team, but here we are.

In my time, sorry not PL

Yes and the bizarre thing is Vardy will be attached to this making his life story and even more mind boggling one for the history books

Comfortably. I would consider 2002 the worst before yet we have matched the defeats and conceded more with nine games to go. Need 11 points to match it and I barely see us getting five.

Can we do the unthinkable and win every game from here on to stay up?

Sure, if this was fifa 95.

This is our worst epl team ever IMO.

Yes I think you have to go back to 1977 / 78 to even get close.

Staggering depths of ineptitude all of the way around.

I'd really get rid of the lot of them and start again on and off the pitch.

Yes, we are in a false position and didn’t deserve to beat Bournemouth among other fixtures.

Yep, If VAR get the Ayew Foul on Southampton corner right, We lose there too. Maybe Cooper was a Lucky manager. Sometimes that what you need.

94/95 we weren't abysmal but just a bit naive and inexperienced at that level. Played some good football at times if I remember correctly. One thing O'Neill did the following season was toughen us up a bit and made us far readier for top flight football, even though in the short term that led to us slipping a little in Division One.

As per the thread I started recently, this team is on track not only to be statistically our worst PL team ever, but to be our worst ever top flight team per se. We could break 5 of the 6 records below, given the way things are going:

Fewest points per game (converted to 3 points) - 0.64 in 1977/78 (0.59 so far this season)

Fewest wins - 5 in 77/78 and 01/02 (4 so far this season)

Most defeats - 25 in 77/78 in a 42 game season (20 so far this season, which at the current rate would result in losing 29 games in a 42 game season)

Fewest goals scored - 26 in 77/78 in a 42 game season (25 so far this season)

Most goals conceded - 112 in 57/58 in a 42 game season (65 so far this season, projected to concede 85 over 38 games, which would equate to 94 over a 42 game season, the 4th worst goals conceded per game in our entire history)

Worst goal difference: - 48 in 1908/09 (-40 this season)

Its a little known fact but football actually existed before the Premier League

Back in 1978 Frank McLintock's band of drinking partners served up some quite woeful football, similar to what we have seen this season.

The difference being then, we loved the club & still got behind the team, where now we hate the club & create no atmosphere to encourage the team

Apparently we're the first side in this country's football league history to have lost 7 consecutive home games without scoring a single goal.  Jesus wept.
