Probably - but any sort of solution that isn’t hold hands and sing Kumbaya, or deflection to another “issue” will probably get you banned…so no…. not worth bringing up any potential solutions.

Have some data to go to bed on, my lovelies.

However horrifying individual incidents are, the bigger picture can provide at least some comfort, I find.

Night night

I tried using numbers yesterday.

People were thinking with their hindbrain and were not receptive, unfortunately.

There's something in that, too.

Unexpectedly hotter weather has been statistically shown to cause people to cause trouble. Another thing to look forward to more in the future, I guess?

Exhibit 19841616 on how the natural world can inflict consequences and doesn't care about borders, laws or moralising.

So feel free to defund efforts to monitor and mitigate its effects at your own convenience, whoever may choose to. I'm sure that will end well.

The Reform candidate in the Makerfield bi-election is sooo bad

Problem is a lot of the core reform voters don't care who the candidate is, and probably couldn't even tell you who it is.

It might persuade a few on the fence not to bother though.

I read this about the Reform candidate in the FT this morning:

"Historical online remarks by Kenyon, a 41-year-old local plumber, were unearthed a week into the by-election campaign. They included explicit opposition to abortion, claims that women cannot drive and lewd remarks about television presenter Carol Vorderman."

If you want an early insight into how the next general election will play out, this is it. A very sizeable proportion of Reform candidates will be from the same mold as Kenyon—scratch the surface and you'll find they're completely batshit crazy. Yes, the hardcore Reform voters probably won't give a shit, but hopefully it will persuade everybody else to steer well clear.

That's about the size of it.

However, an additional factor here will be the concerted social media campaign to attempt to demonstrate that such batshit crazy isn't actually that batshit crazy, that people aren't alone in being batshit crazy, and therefore it's OK to be batshit crazy.

That, unfortunately, has had a decent effect of drawing in people who wouldn't ordinarily be batshit crazy so far. It's something that needs addressing.

He doesn't sounds batshit crazy like some.

He just sounds immature and totally unsuitable to be involved in politics.

By 41 you should be mature so immaturity is not an excuse.

Agreed he is unsuited to politics.

Some of the stories coming out of Belfast following last night's riots are horrendous.

People have every right to be angry and scared after what happened but burning and looting the property of foreign nationals is a disgrace.

Real collapse of Ottoman Empire vibes to the UK at the moment. An embattled elite trying to keep it all together with talk of shared values that nobody seems to want to believe in anymore.

Probably not in Ireland as they have far deeper issues that will never be resolved. For the rest of the UK. Sort the economy out, get young people into work with prospects. Sort the criminal justice system out that sees high re offending rates. Stop mass migration and the reliance on foreign workers. Those four would be a good start. Easier said then done obviously

Nah UK is more boned than Republic of Ireland. They have one of the lowest NEET rates in Europe, ours is now second worse after Romania. There are anti immigrant riots seemingly every summer here now, will only increase I'm sure.
