Sorry if this has already been addressed, and Im probably just being daft, but if he's already left QPR, as was confirmed by QPR on their website on the 24th of June, why is there a need to pay compensation to QPR?

He's not left he's on gardening leave meaning they're still paying his wages.

More like buy badly, buy once since we can't shift them. In football, the phrase is the other way around because if you've bought well, another team will want that player so you're buying another player to replace them.

No, there's nothing wrong with that approach.  Selling players for profit is the model that worked well for us and Rodgers abandoned.

How many times did we try and fail to find a right winger?  We bought Vestergaard when Fofana was injured.  Not good enough so we bought Faes, not good enough...  Ward to succeed Schmeichel.  Not good enough, had to buy again.

Daka, not good enough, need a new CF.

It's a common theme, the trouble is, we are rarely able to sell the failures

Club Win percentage
Rubi 58%
Sant Andreu 38%
L’Hospitalet 29%
Sandefjord 40%
AaB 42%
Hammarby 52%
QPR 32%

You have to look at the standing of each club. Were they a strong team in the league they were in? Had Cooper or RVN managed a 40% win rate last season that would have been deemed very good. It will be interesting to see what his win rate will be at the end of this season, coaching one of the better teams in the league!

He's on gardening leave, probably paid off partially so QPR didn't have to make a multi-million pay off at once and they're residually paying the rest. The compensation is to free him from the remaining payment an release him from any contract.

This article on their official website says he's left the club by mutual consent, following a period of gardening leave...

We didn't even try which is what drives me wild.

We signed Ghezzal (obviously shit), Under on loan and Perez (barely a winger). We lost Mahrez in 2018 and signed two permanent RWs in 6 years until we landed on Fatawu.

If they perform in training I would expect Winks and, possibly, Skipp to start. Unless we get someone in, Daka is our only senior CF.

I'm pretty sure every training clip i have seen with Skipp in this pre season has him looking out of his depth. He is miles off the rest of our squad  which is filled with mediocre players. Winks i dont like but will probably start. Daka i dont mind starting but would like to see Evans getting regular minutes up top as well.

Diabate, Lookman (loan) ....

Because now it's even tighter, in our last 3 years cycle we had 2 PL season and a championship season.

In our next one we will have two championship seasons and one PL season.

We'll be suffering the consequences of this if we get promoted too because we will not be able to lose as much as other Prem teams, which then limits the spending we can do. In effect, we need to survive in the premier for 3 years before its a level laying field in terms of allowable losses. The odds are really stacked against teams coming up from the EFL.

Likely a clause if he was employed within X amount of time following leaving he'd need to repay part of his compensation

So with Carrick, we really were interviewing the bottom of the barrell... Only people who have managed in England on their CV. All out of a job. All on the cheap. All seemingly in July after sacking Ruud.

Yes again, it's embarrassing from Rudkin. Not knocking Marti but the process is incredible considering how many millions are at stake. This ****er has got to go.

Gentle reminder to anyone concerned about Cifuentes' career before he joins us.
This is Andoni Iraola the current Bournemouth manager, who is easily one of the best young coaches in world football right now. The career/record of the manager is obviously an indication of their potential and if they are on an upward trend or downward and should not be ignored, but it's easy to get caught up in the weeds on that.

And getting promoted then finishing 12th twice in La Liga are quite good indicators.

Does feel like an Iraola style appointment, sometimes got to look deeper into things than just win percentages and trophy cabinets.

Pretty nothing article really.

Interesting Percy hasn't referenced Bo Svensson being interviewed or spoken to.

Very little cutting edge or breaking journalism here

Enthusiastic about this guy now with how much potential for pun-filled songs he has. (The only criteria I care about)

Fight For Your Right (To Marti)

Marti Rock Anthem

Get The Marti Started

No.1 Marti Anthem

Marti Girl (Come on Marti, let’s go party)

Fabulous.

we defo need a couple of strikers in at least id say

as weve only got daka, thats the main one for me

With daka, Evans and Ayew, I'm not saying it's not a priority position but I don't think we need a couple, and I think it might be harder to get the right level striker that we need.

Again though, biggest job is getting players out. Trim the squad right down

Not seen the contract obviously but the compensation/release might be the following:

1, payment/compensation may have been subject to employee not doing something he is currently trying to do; or

2. restrictive covenants still in place.

or

3. could be an error in the article and the gardening leave remains in place.

but I’m guessing without knowing all the facts.

Says the club will be paying the compensation, and Carrick was another candidate, alongside Wilder and O'Neil.

If the other names on the shortlist were Carrick, Wilder and O'Neil, then I'm pleased we've ended up with Cifuentes.

I might have the wrong end of the stick here, but isn't the situation that he was owed money by QPR so long as he wasn't hired by another club - at that point, he would either choose to forego it or have the buying club pay it?
