I still don’t think he’s doing a bad job….

He's making some poor calls from time to time, but what manager doesn’t? And when you look at the lack of depth we have in the squad it’s hardly surprising.

We’re doing better than I expected, but generally it’s still not good enough.

But we’ve a serious problem in the striking department…. I’d like him to be a bit braver with his decisions, but it’s likely he’s under pressure from the top office to get promoted, which he won’t rely on youth will he?

Bit of a vague description. Does others mean any others, all others or somewhere between? The ones you have mentioned probably walk into any others in the league which is fair enough. But there are other solid performers like Stolarcryk who might not be great every game but probably walks into the majority of sides at this level.

I’m not so sure on the others. The majority haven’t been consistent enough or are shit.
What baffles me is we have a young cb in Nelson who played in the championship last season and reportedly been interest from the premiership but we decide to keep the chuckle brothers at the back.

There’s such a thing as picking a too good team. Because for me, on Saturday he just about got it right. (Don’t think there’s a winning answer at striker right now short of giving a youngster a shot)

For me we looked very good in that first half… problem is, when he looked to the bench every option made us weaker and when we needed a spark from the bench there was nobody who was going to give us that. It made it impossible for us to reenergize us on the pitch because all we did was bring on worse players that have no impact.  With mavididi out we really didn’t have any game changers on the bench and that’s why there really should have been an opportunity for Evan’s

Wouldn't  it be great if we had a Jock Wallace  moment like he did with Lineker and Buchanan with Evans and Hutchinson having ago .Can't do no worse  than the has beens we've  seen so far.

Lack of depth compared to who? PL teams, sure. Championship sides, no.

Over a 16 year career and nearly 500 games, he's averaging a goal every 6.5 games, playing in teams like Palace, Marseille and Villa.

I dont mind the bloke, but pinning your hopes on him bagging winners at any kind of regular intervals is always likely to end up in disappointment.

Mostly in leagues above the championship, I’m not pinning my hopes on anyone but a team up the top end of the champ should be producing enough chances that strikers have no problem getting 10 goals in 46 games even if they had one leg. That is a pretty low bar. The xg is pretty low so it’s not like an abundance of clear cut chances are being missed.

That's where having high performing players from the Academy on the bench would be beneficial. At the very least you know they're going to bring much needed energy and a desire to impress.

Ayew would help his own cause if he wasn’t usually 20-30 yards behind the ball when we get near the box tbf

This is exactly what I’ve been banging on about but people take it as if you want the whole 11 made up of teenagers.

I just want a different option to come off the bench. That is all.

A good point - I said on Saturday before the game that the bench looked shite and so it played out

May be worth putting Monga on to the bench if Mavi's fit - the problem is of course that our midfield and striker options are truly shocking

Surprised Page is not in the squad he would be a good option of the bench

It was a Leicester/Cov 11 and the alternative was Jay Dasilva…

Edit - I’m not sure what Thomas has done to you but I’m not sure, with respect, that you are the most balanced on the subject.

Nothing but consistency that he quite simply isn’t good enough for a team that wants to get out of this league - same as hamza and skipp and soumare and daka and carranza

Only teams that quite clearly have better SQUADS than us are Southampton and Ipswich.

Coventrys first 11 is about par with ours, I’d say. But our bench is definitely stronger.

Theres no way the likes of Boro, Stoke, West Brom or Millwall and Bristol are even close to the level of our squad, despite how much we despise some of our players and weak links like LB and striker.

The points total so far is below par by a good 6-7pts. Anything other than a win tomorrow night and that’s a very unacceptable start to the season.

Fully aware of the struggles Saints and Ipswich are having, McKenna is massively underperforming and Will Still is looking a bit of a prat at the moment.

Coventry are in to there second season with Lampard as manager though and they know how to score something we are clearly lacking, Lampard knows how to win things aswell as a player and that will only rub off on the team and it looks like he is turning into a good manager.

Boro look solid as well think they will be up there come the end of the season.

I think we need to improve quite a bit to have a chance at top 2 and some signings in Jan.

Where's the press conference for the Hull game?

They don’t usually do one for mid-week, it will have basically just been his post match from Portsmouth

I feel cheated. He spent the pre season blooding in the youngsters and I made peace with losing some games but getting behind some locally developed talent.

The second the season starts he's pulled the rug like Starmer!

Nelson has one bad half and totally made an example of.

Faes or Vesty at fault for conceding pretty much every game and can’t be touched.

Patience slowly running out Marti lad

Was hoping for a fresh start with lots of academy players involved this season, and instead we get to see the same underperforming dross again and again. Meh.

Whilst somewhat of blame is on the manager for not playing the youngsters, more of the blame is on those that run the club.  The club should be setting objectives of the manager to play the youth which evidently isn't happening.

Bang on!

Nelson had one poor half of football and has been thrown to the side.

Monga has a quiet game and he finds himself on the bench too

Yet Vestergaard and Faes regularly play shite and somehow always get a starting spot.
