The biggest concern for me, is not how revolting we have been this season but the amount of niggly injuries already is a big red flag.

I don't think we have the players capable of a high press right now he has not been allowed to bring one player in, Daka should probably start over Ayew as he does streach the defense a bit more although Ayew is a bit of a menace

 

Skipp Soumare and Winks are not really capable of pressing high although Winks and Soumare did show signs today of that

Didn’t have too long on the pitch but quite liked how silko thomas was keen to go forward and be positive when he got the ball. Made defenders go backwards a couple of times which mcateer didn’t do although he’d usually keep the ball.

I mean, we sit here saying there’s a lot of worrying things…… it’s hardly a surprise, we’ve not refreshed a team on its arse. There’s too many toxic factors at this club, I was genuinely surprised we won today. But I thought Charlton were poor, lacking a lot of quality in attacking areas. 
 

Birmingham will have a field day against that defence, we still conceded chances in the transition, if it wasn’t for a lack of quality we would have conceded some goals this afternoon. If we can somehow get some defensive reinforcements in at least, we might be okay…. But it completely relies on us being able to sign some players.

The defence isn't an issue its the attacking / midfield options, I don't think we are that far away should settle down when the window closes

We have Ayew or Daka as our first line of defending and pressing, and soumare in midfield as a second line in pressing… lower your expectations mate, whilst they are still in the squad.

Midfield is awful, skipp in particular is woeful we have to sign at least 1 CM minimum.

We are desperate for a striker, Ayew was awful, when we needed him to do what hes meant to be good at he wouldn't release it, was gagging for fouls and lost the ball so many times. Daka was his normal useless self.

Luke Thomas continues to plays like a child.

We have to sign a BEK replacement, page doesn't look ready yet.

Managed the game so so poorly the last 20 minutes, constantly giving it back, allowing crosses.

Abdul confidence goal? The guy already thinks he is Messi, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho rolled into one. He was trying to take his man on far too much. Once he realises he has a team around him he will be so much better.

 

Not taking away from the goal but if he used the people around him, we could have had more.

Until Ricardo and winks came on.  Ricardo was the difference as he has ability and a footballing brain.  He brought the ball over the halfway line and passed it players running forwards. 

 

If his only style of play is pass to the wingers, we need full backs and midfielders to carry the past the halfway line and want to receive the ball in advanced positions.

Surely the defence is? We can’t defend the transition against any kind of half decent quality. Thomas needs replacing desperately, and I’m not sold on that CB paring. Okoli concerns me, last ditch tackle and clearances won’t make up for his lack of ability on the ball. 
 

Our attack does need work, but I think for now there are goals in it, we just need to sort that defensive base out. And build from there. I’d ideally like a new spine. CB CM and striker, and then if we can get in a left back and potentially another CAM.
