Yes agree, we just don't have either the confidence or ability to pass forward throught the lines under pressure.

Ayew is quite incredible. We were breaking and he turned and passed backwards. The whole team breathed out, the whole stadium sighed. He's an energy vampire. Literally bores everyone into submission. Like football but in slow motion played backwards.

We need to be braver.

 

Since scoring, when we've had the ball, we've looked to keep it. This has meant going sideways and backwards until there press has forced us all the way back. 

 

I think this is a hangover from last season where we coughed up the ball and the opposition scored. 

 

If we can keep winning confidence will build tho. We are only 3 and a half games in.

Feel bad for the manager had to start the season and 4 league games in he doesn’t know who he will have available for the next game. Get points on the board today grind out a horrible win and hopefully he has a few new faces to work with before the next game

Soumare was ok. Page relatively poor, his touch is too heavy and rushed.. however.. he did get the assist but id take him off now.

 

Thomas is garbage.. absolutely panics all game and doesn't just pass back all the time but without looking.. danger merchant.

If I didn't know we were winning that would be one of the most disgusting halves of football i've seen from us including last seasons debacle.

Ayew’s dropped too deep meaning we have no out ball.

 

Before the goal, him, Mav and Fatawu were staying really high - giving us a chance to beat the press - and we were defending a lot higher.

 

It needs some tweaks at halftime - not in terms of players, but tactical instruction - to be braver and play a higher line and get the balls into the front 3 earlier so it’s Birmingham turning and going backwards, rather than us sitting and trying to break from our own half.

I don’t see much to criticise other than the lack of forward… We knew what the side would look like with Ayew as 9 and it looks exactly as predicted

What a weird football team. Whether it's technique, confidence, focus, can't really be arsed or a mixture, so few of our players are willing/able to receive the ball under any kind of pressure or move it up the pitch.
