Ayew is an absolutely terrible focal point for a counter. He doesn't have the pace to stretch the game vertically and he's terrible at dropping, taking the ball and quickly feeding in Fatawu or Mavididi behind him. 

 

Our set up to counter is generally awful. 

 

He's constantly out wide in the space he should leave to the wingers and never where he should be receiving the ball centrally.

Tbf to mavidid.. his support is Thomas.. he gets no forward balls and has to cover deep as Thomas is shite.  Abdul has it slightly more favourable

I would just be happy to see a full back carry the ball, pass and overlap our wingers.
