I’ve been speaking to someone who has worked with Susan, they’re suggesting we should be concerned about this….. in their opinion she was the only person in the top office with any ounce of a clue of how to run things. Rudkin and Top on the other hand don’t carry the same kind of respect.

Susan was an integral part of the PL board meetings, she represented the club many times and was well respected by her peers.

I can’t help but think this will simply further destabilise the hierarchy, we’re now left with two incompetent idiots running the show, I’d put more trust into a gathering of gibbons.

That sounds about right, but the thing is- she clearly had zero influence and if that’s not true, she clearly wasn’t as good as others are saying.

We are currently a shower of shit despite her being here,  so you’ve got to wonder how good she actually was.

I remember reading an article about the PRL board meetings and people really respecting her.

Might be reading too much into it...but Vardys post on socials makes me feel like we are losing the good one and being left with the chuckle brothers?!

We do need all change at the moment; but let’s be honest, Vardy won’t be posting a message like that when Rudkin leaves.

I was about to post this, I think the wrong villain has left the building.  All change in our situation is good but this won’t solve anything with the other 2 still in charge

Everything I’ve ever heard, not that I’ve heard much about it, claims that Whelan was the good one, trying to stop all these issues and the other two (Top and Rudkin) were trying to force her out- seeing Vards post I reckon that’s true and they’ve clearly succeeded

People I know who have worked at the club and had interactions with her have always spoken well of her.

Personally, when the ticket office were refusing a more than reasonable request from me regarding my ST a few years back, she also became involved and applied common sense to the situation and overrode them.

No doubt there are many negatives she appears to have presided over, but I wonder just how much control she has actually had.

Well you don't get a better endorsement then that. If anybody was in doubt on how important Susan's been to us, Vardy's answered it.

The image of Susan Whelan in the past offering a struggling player encouragement and advice lends itself more to an executive cutting about in a tracksuit than Jon Rudkin.

Vardy's praise is certainly telling. After his exclusion of Rudkin from his other statements he is saying what he can't by omission. But haven't a lot of people within the club spoken highly of Rudkin too?

Still, if there was that much tension between Whelan and Rudkin you'd think something would have happened before this.

We probably are losing the best and most capable of the bunch, but she was still CEO throughout. She can't be completely exonerated of responsibility because the other 2 are useless.

We have released a statement today with the Trust's view on Susan Whelan's departure and what we would like to see from the Club next.

You can read it on our website here or in-full below.

:scarf:

Based on the key findings of our End of Season Survey we were calling for change at the top of the Club. But as our Co-Chair Steve Moulds told Radio Leicester on Thursday, we didn’t see this change coming.

Susan has guided the club through some unprecedented times at our football club, related to both on and off the pitch issues, and has done it with confidence and competence. As Steve mentioned, she was at times seen by some as ‘the glue holding the club together’.

She was the one person at the highest level of the Club who was prepared to speak with the Trust directly, and also through the Fan’s Advisory Board, and we know that she was held in the highest regard by many of those working at the Football Club.

In the interest of balance, however, we also need to consider that is likely as CEO she would have had responsibility for signing off some of the more recent decisions that surround the financial health of the club, FFP/PSR, and the recent changes that have alienated the fan base, such as ticket pricing and the increased relationship with gambling companies.

One of our five ‘Calls to Action’ following the End of Season Survey results sought changes to the Senior Leadership at the club, and we are pleased to see that change is happening and the Club has an opportunity to bring in fresh impetus, ideas and (we hope) football experience at the very top of the Club.

That said, we feel that the deterioration in the way the club has been managed over recent years can in large parts be attributed as due to poor management on the football side of the club and that is why in our Calls to Action we also asked the Club to appoint a Director of Football with a proven track record of improving a club at the highest level.

So where do we go from here?

The Trust wants to see someone appointed, whether at CEO level or an equally important position at the Club, that has a proven track record in the world of football – with the business acumen needed these days in a world of multi-million player deals, and sponsorship/commercial deals – to ensure this Club again reaches for the highest level of achievement.

We also want better communication from the Club (senior management and the ownership) which sets out to all our supporters the plan for progress on the playing side: Where do we want to be? How are we going to get there? What will change with developing players, player recruitment, player contract control and the churn of players?

Supporters will want to hear from Senior Management what our financial position is and what measures and controls are now in place to ensure we do not breach Financial Fair Play (as well as who at the Club is ultimately responsible for compliance with these regulations). And we want more openness about the development of the infrastructure of the club, including whether ground expansion will go ahead.

As a Trust, we feel apprehensive. After Susan’s departure, we could be left with a gaping hole and the Club becoming even more inward-looking. Or we might, just might, see a seismic shift for the better if we eventually get someone with the skills and football knowledge to hold the reins of guiding our Club forward, and with the communication competences to tell us clearly and openly how they are going to do it.

Look, I don't like to knock the well meaning individuals you have at FT. But....

She totally ignored your infamous 'list of questions' in 2023 and from the very occasional minutes I'd skim read of Fan Advisory Boards she either

A) sent apologies for her absence or

B)  completely palm any awkward questions off with a robotic 'that's not in the remit of this meeting' and then quickly turn the subject towards her favourite safe themes like food concessions.and disabled access

She wasn’t the director at the Club who dictated what could or could not be shared from any meetings with the Trust. Nor the one who worked on the terms of reference of the Fan Engagement Plan and put NDAs in place for those on the Fan Advisory Board.

I suspect you wouldn’t find many on the Trust board who had interaction with her and felt she was the real or biggest problem at LCFC.

I think that’s a given.

What will ‘we’ do about it though as fans? Absolutely nothing

Take thermos flasks to games, and leave at 80 minutes.
