Because they were clearly targeting somebody else who ultimately turned us down.

Or they were hoping Kingy would pick up a win or 2, then they could save on a managers wages for 6 months.

I’m under no illusions that he will do quite well this season, keep us up then get offered a 3 year deal in the summer only to be sacked in September when we’re awful again

I live in Oxford and the fans here still rate him. The view locally is that he was sacked because he stood up to the owners.

I live here too and this is the view I get from the sensible Oxford fans I know.

We should set up an Oxford Chisits society. Let's be miserable together.

The most shocking thing from this is after knowing about John Percy for several years and building a picture in my head I have now discovered he looks like this which is not what I had imagined. 🤯

Should never have taken this long.

It just shows the level of competence and delusion within that Board Room.

In a realistic scenario Rudkin would be slapping Top and telling him ' you jumped up little slug, no we can't convince Enzo to come back and promote this year'  but no our frustrating reality is we dithered and continued to go for a name and style of play, one who wasn't keeping us up, while all along the only realistic option was the uninspiring ex player who we would never give a second look a few years ago.

I am not particularly excited but I'm just glad they finally made a decision for a bloke that will, I am sure of it, kick arses into gear and understand how important it is to the fans to apply 100% effort. All I ask is don't go down without a fight.

Very underwhelming appointment, a man sacked by Oxford this season

1.20 per game with a crappy Oxford team that were in league one a couple of seasons ago, I guess the expectation is he does better with players like Fatawu that are worth nearly as much as the squad he managed

Well this is it, it's like Shakey all over again, we can't appoint him full time in the summer as he's been proven that he's not necessarily effective at that at this point. He's gained a title of a firefighter.

Let's hope he keeps us up, gets paid decently and we can all move on.

Why the fvck has it taken 3 weeks to employ someone who was already out of work and an obvious choice for a relegation threatened Championship side.

3 weeks less wages

I've said it before on here, and I can't really explain why, but i have always liked Gary Rowett.

Have you always had him as your profile photo waiting for this moment? lol

Rowett’s getting a lot of ‘he got sacked by Oxford’ shouts as to why people don’t want him which I completely get from looking at the outer picture.

It’s worth noting that he got sacked in his second season there.

In his first season he came in midway through the season replacing Des Buckingham and here’s his record from 20th Dec until the end of last season

Games: 25
9 wins
8 draws
8 losses

Other noticeable stat: 9 clean sheets

There’s obviously the reality that he had L1 players with a point to prove instead of our prima-donna’s but if he gets into them and manages to make us harder to beat ( not difficult from where we’re at currently) then short term he could be an option!

Bit of background info that I raised about his Oxford record when there were initial links, the big question will be can he get a tune of our mercenaries.
Good luck Gary!

It just shows that these pair never learn from their mistakes and never will. We’ve wasted vital games again, just like we did when we went down from the prem the first time. That being said, I don’t mind Gary Rowett at all but ffs, get there quicker you useless twats!

This’ll do me then. At least it should make things more interesting.

I’d like 3-5-2 Millwall Rowett right now, rather than same old 4-2-3-1 Oxford Rowett.

Rudkin: I'm going to ask Rowett

Top: What about Enzo?

Rudkin: boss....

Top: what?

Rudkin: I mean...

Top: just ask him.

Rudkin: sigh. Alright, I'll ask him.

Top: what did he say?

Rudkin: ... I can't repeat it.

Top: is he sure?

Rudkin: he sounded very sure.

Top: ... Ask Rowett.

You missed the part where he left 28 voicemails, sent 175 texts, 4 letters and an owl, spending three weeks waiting for them to return obvious "no".

We’re struggling to field 2 competent/fit centre halves and so naturally you want to add an extra one in the mix - and completely misplace our 2nd top scorer in the process.

this makes out that Rudkin would ever doubt anything Aiyawatt would say to him.

If Aiyawatt asked Rudkin to jump the only question Rudkin would ask is "how high?"

I just meant someone who understands the need to change formation and try something different. Not necessarily that exact formation 👍
