Yes some where aimed at O'Neil but it was also a protest at the board. If anyone remembers they invited 6 fans to go into the board room to talk to O'Neil and the board ( imagine them doing that now 😅) One of my mates was picked and he explicitly told O'Neil that he and alot of other fans where more unhappy with the board than the manager.

I was at that Sheff Utd game, "f___ off Martin O'Neill" was the chant ringing round filbo.  Hard not to take that personally

In fairness though that was with a poor Southampton team in the Premier League. Rangers was too big a job for him. He is probably a better manager than Cifuentes, and if we had him last year I’m not sure we get relegated. That’s about the most positive I can get about him, there are probably worse sideways and backwards options the board will look at, like Cifuentes.

That included half of the promotion season as well

He spoke about it at the night with O'Neill. He does seem to harbour a niggle. He seems a guy that never forgets those that betray him, but also never forgets those that back him, and as fans in his mind, I think we crossed a line. He still says he loved his time here but you wonder what he personally thinks of 'Leiceser fans'.

So was I. My Dad borrowed season tickets a couple of rows from the directors box. I didn't join in with the Go West song as I was in O'Neill's camp but almost took the abuse personally due to proximity. Muzzy's debut was the only highlight.

I’m not losing my mind but if I was offered Aiyawatt to leave the club by midnight tonight but in return I’d have to accept league 2 instead of league one I’d snatch your hand off and im being totally honest.

It’s become that bad now !

And Julian Watts 😆

I can see Alves, Braybrooke and Page being starters. Nelson may be sold if we get a decent offer.

The one positive we have at the moment is that even if 20 of last season's squad end up leaving, we won't have to buy replacements for all of them as you'd expect the academy to fill in some of the gaps. This will hopefully mean we can concentrate whatever budget we have on a handful of quality signings rather than stretch it across a large number of average ones.

I like your posts. You always look for positives, even when there are none at all. And you happily move on to acceptance after spending weeks convincing yourself (but sadly nobody else) we would *never* consider RM! Hats off!

The comment you quoted was not about RM’s appointment, which I believe to be a horrendous mistake by the club. It was just an observation about our likely squad composition next season & would apply whoever was appointed manager.

With Princess Bajrakitiyabha passing away, Thailand is about to go into National mourning.

I wonder if this impacts King Power and what impact this has on us.

If, as some have said, it's done/almost done/advanced then Top has already given his blessing and signed it off, so he should now trust the people around him to get it over the line.

If not, then that is ridiculous.

Don't do it to yourself!  To his credit, he is a can talk a good game, which is terrible news for us because we all know the leadership love a good talker, but everyone else knows that his approach is very much "Listen to what I say, but don't watch me too closely".

Would be wasting our time.

No way he drops to League 1.

Next season realistically we'll be viewed as a promotion contender in the championship IF we get promoted (big if) and we probably offer bigger wages than most Championship teams, so it's whether you can play to a few of these managers egos to think that we're their quickest way back to the Premier League over teams like Stoke or Portsmouth etc.

Listened to his podcast with Lineker for about 10 mins.
Like a lot of managers he came across ok.

He talks a good game.
What I find difficult with him is that it was done before he got the rangers job and it seems he’s learnt absolutely nothing from what happened at Southampton.
It’s as if he’s just carried on as usual and not developed/changed his style to accommodate any opposition.
That season we went up with Enzo we beat Southampton early in the campaign 4-1 away and 5-0 at home towards the end.
You would have thought he’d have shown more tactical awareness later in season but if anything Southampton looked worse.
Like a lot of recent managers we’ve had it seems to be one way of playing and if that’s not working we change personnel rather than change the system/shape.
It’s not rocket science to change the system if it’s not worked for 60+ mins.
My fear is if we hire Martin it’s gonna be even less likely we’ll change the system during matches.

Much like Aiyawatt and Rudkin - never any lessons learned, never their fault and just stick to the same plan regardless. All the characteristics of the worst of leaders.

As Percy said this at the beginning of the week, I guess the main holdup, is sorting out his backroom team. He would want Matt Gill as his Assistant Manager, but all the talk at West Brom, is that Gill is staying there. If that's the case, I dont know who else he'd want for that job. Rhys Owen (Performance Coach) is very likely to be coming in from Rangers. Dean Thornton, RM's usual Goalkeeping Coach seems to be happy at Millwall and Ben Parker, the usual Analyst, is well set up at Old Trafford.

So, I would imagine there's a lot of 'tooing & froing' going on, trying to sort out the backup staff

I think this is spot on. I'm pretty sure, as soon as we can nail Martin's backroom team, he'll be announced. Possibly in the next few days?

In addition to Owen, I wonder whether Gill might actually be sorted - a deal with West Brom, could be what's taking the time. I can't see Parker leaving OT and I'm sure Begovic will be our new Goalkeeping Coach.

Smooth talker yes, poor operator though.

That doesn't usually stop us announcing managers, the last few have come in with skeleton staff to start with. Even Cifuentes last summer.

Brussell may have noted how long it took the club to get staff in for RvN and Cifuentes and doesn't want to take the risk of joining without at least a core team.

Fair point and hopefully we fail to get who he needs and it falls through 😂

The only thing I know about Gill is that West Brom fans were very unhappy about the prospect of him leaving and then very relieved when somebody said he was staying. They seem to think he played a major role in keeping them up last season. It wouldn't surprise me if we're still trying to get him out of West Brom.
