Wrexham rumoured to have paid c£4M for Keillor Dunn only 6 months ago. How are we linked with him?

Scores goals at this level so would be good but don't see us paying a fee.

I mean, at this level is the key phrase.

I don't mind signing kids who aren't proven in the Championship and need to develop. I also don't mind free transfers that are established League One players with a limited celling, I understand where we are.

But if we spend any noticeable amount of a probably very limited transfer budget on a 28 year old who didn't manage the step up, is being sold back down and we're likely going to have to give a 3-5 year contract to I'll be intensely annoyed.

He's exactly the sort of player we should be loaning. We should be saying to Wrexham, yeah, he's your failed transfer, we'll take him off your hands for a year and pay his wages but he's still your problem long term. You know, like every other club does to us.

I'd MUCH rather we take these sorts of players on loan from the leagues above, that have been promoted or bought up the leagues and just didn't quite cut it or have been replaced. Then save our actual money for buying young kids we'll hopefully be able to up sell for profit.

Instead we just keep doing the opposite, the same stupid shit. Buying old players that we can't sell on and loaning in youth players that won't sign permanently and block opportunities to our own.

Thst's likely to be it, a loan with an option to buy.

I don't see us paying money for anyone think this would be a loan.

One thing I think people really do need to come to terms with is that anyone we get through the door (and there's a big 'if' attributed to that) they will have issues attached to them.

We will not be signing 22 year old ready to go goal machines who are likely to make the step up to the Championship should we get promoted.

We are way do the food chain now and those players cost £3/4 million. The sort of money we simply do not have.

We either have to make do with signing players like Ings/Adabayo where they have proven their worth at a higher level but come with huge question marks over fitness or players who might have failed to make the step up to the Championship like Keillor-Dunn/Chaplin or they'll be untried youth players on loan.

We simply will not be signing players who are as close to a guarantee as you can get at this level. Anyone we sign will have question marks.

Yeah that Keillor-Dunn seems a Skybet EFL League One bagsman but at 28 is not far from being in an urn. 4 year contract incoming

Being in an urn lol lol

from @GLC, davis kellior-dunn being looked at again

also

Unsure on his actual technical abilities, but at least he's actually athletic. He's tall and rapid. We've not had an athletic left sided full back in a long time.

I'd be surprised if he on Man C books and has poor technical ability.

DKD would be another good signing in the Chaplin mold, a big issue we have had for while is our depth is crap- those two are guys that if we can go up will be unreal depth for the championship- he also was not given much of a chance at all by Wrexham. As long as it’s cheap and the wages aren’t big I think it’s great, our Ballard type signings should come if we get promoted

Agreed that he doesn't look like he was given many minutes at Wrexham. Also, should we sign him and he bags 15-20 goals and we get promotion, we could likely offload him for £1+ to another League One club should we need.

Either that, or he would be a good/decent squad option in the Championship.

I also agree and as much as I want Ballard, we just aren't in a position to spend that type of money - which is depressing that we find ourselves in that position.

With all the other youngsters in the starting 11, a DKD at his current age, is probably also a decent signing to bring some L1 nounce/experience to a young team. Other League One clubs will certainly take notice if we signed DKD

Keillor-Dunn’s situation has intrigued me all summer, it’s been very likely that he would leave Wrexham in some capacity this summer.

He scored 13 in 24 for Barnsley last season, if he had stayed, a good chance he’d have finished as League One’s top goalscorer.

Getting him in has always been the next best bet behind Tolaj and Ballard, one’s already moved, the other might be unrealistic.

Keillor-Dunn is one of the most logical striker signings we could make.

I assume the connection with Conor Hourihane makes the transfer more likely?

That Macfarlane one makes sense. You cannot risk having to play the dreadful Thomas all season.

And of course Conor Hourihane will know him when he was at Barnsley, so he could well be the candidate.

If Hourihane comes in, that’s an added incentive to try and get Davis Keillor-Dunn on loan.

I see Notts County have brought in a 6ft 4 striker from Finland can see him causing a lot of problems particularly if Souttar leaves. Are there any credible striker links only threads of late seems to be full or centre backs?
