I know they're limited (Grant Hanley ffs) and as an outside observer you'd surely class Clarke's tenure as a net positive, but they do not have to be this conservative in every tournament. Its very Southgate-lite, so worried about protecting a wobbly defence above all else.

Morocco are very good and win that game 9 times out of 10 but it must be pretty disheartening to get to a World Cup and barely have a bloody go. They've shown plenty of times over the past few years they can cause the bigger boys some problems.

Woke up to this headline and assumed they’d battled back from 3-0 down to grab a draw.

Same here - thought they'd at least got a draw. The media can be absolutely insane (and vicious) in pulling down England and English players in tournaments sometimes, so I'm not suggest things move to that, but surely this perpetual coverage of Scotland as having marvellous fans, best in the world, and such a brave team, so unlucky etc doesn't help Scotland long term? It means there's little accountability or real pressure to get better when it's acceptable to shrug your shoulders and say well, we're plucky little triers.

Obviously not the biggest population but it feels like every Scotland fan in the world has been interviewed by media broadcasters. So annoyingly patronising by the English media having a nice-off to out do each other. Just the same with those lovely bucket heads from Wales if they ever qualify. Bored of it all.

I swear something like this gets written about Brazil in every tournament.

What do these journalists thing the real Brazil is? I mean, look at their players. They're a bit mid.

Not actually a bad result for the Scots in terms of the best 3rd placed teams. Don't get tonked by Brazil and they're more or less through.

What a crap tournament when qualification is possible just by beating the 85th ranked team by 1 nil. What is the point of the group stage other than an opportunity to rip off fans.

The group stage involves playing 72 games to eliminate 16 teams. lol

That said, I'm still enjoying the tournament.

They should really be sat on 1pt, not 3.

Pathetic last night, Morocco didn’t get out of 2nd gear and Scotland didn’t lay a glove on them.

Surely with the strength in central and attacking midfield as well as the full backs you play a diamond or 4-2-2-2?

There really are a lot of English triggered by the fact the Scottish fans are popular when they travel

Possibly some overlap with the folks who think football should only be tribal and therefore travelling fans should be feared, rather than popular.

All fans are popular at tournaments on foreign soil including, unbelievably, England. It's just the English media have a love in duty towards other British nations for fear of being accused of xenophobia. Mel Gibson's fault. Freedom!

Probably some jealousy in there seeing as England fans get a bad rep, which is often unfair.

It don't help when every positive England fan vid has comments full of 'Scotland would do it better', 'they're copying Scotland' etc.

I've seen no end of positivity towards them from English fans too though. More than I'd expected.

Thought McGinns was a penalty, and Mctominay"s is probobly given in club football.

I can see some of Clarkes thinking behind his tactics, and players chosen.

Basically don't get horsed by Morocco so that we don't have to chase the game v Brazil, and he always said he had to rotate over the 3 games to keep players fresh, so I'd expect Hickey, Shankland and Mclean to start on Wed.

Lewis Ferguson is having a good tournament, and Jack Hendy has done well.

It was always going to be a tough group, we are 40 odd in the rankings up against 2 sides in the top 7.
