None other than promotion surely?

You can get nit picky on the added extras like promotion with style, promotion with a certain points tally, promotion with a certain win streak, promotion by winning the league etc

I’m certainly not saying all that doesn’t matter, as it would obviously be nice to have all of that bringing a sense of optimism going back into the championship, but just promotion is what we need, we cannot be languishing in League One, not a Club of our size with the potential financial hurdles we could be facing if we do

it is the perfect time though to build up some obviously much needed momentum and for Russel and hopefully a fresher looking side to hit the ground running and start galvanising a portion of unity within the Club

it has to be a strong start but that’s not to say it won’t be easy

A good season for Jon Rudkin and his elite team of word salad specialists will result in the following press release:

"Our possession-centric operating model consistently delivers market-leading ball retention metrics, achieving 90%+ control of the asset. However, despite excelling in this key KPI, we continue to underperform in outcome-based metrics, specifically goal conversion and defensive leakage, resulting in a net negative results profile versus competitors.

Consequently, the strategic priority has shifted towards recruiting and developing goalkeepers and defenders with strong distribution capabilities and alignment to our possession framework, rather than focusing on traditional competencies such as shot-stopping, tackling, and defensive interventions, which are increasingly viewed as secondary success factors within the current operating model."

  • Clear out some of the high earners
  • build a younger team
  • win the league
  • win the EFL trophy

Not sure that will happen.

Behind the scenes so much needs to change.

Champions and a cup run. Top 2 is the bare minimum. Anything below that is horrendous

Going up through the playoffs would be ''horrendous''?

I think if we don't finish top 2 it's a catastrophic failure.

Some exciting football would be nice but honestly I'd sacrifice that to get us out League 1 first time asking

The club owe us this

If this club needs the playoffs to go up in this league (providing there isnt another deduction) it would be embarrassing. 100 percent

Yes embarrassing but not horrendous, we've been relegated twice in a row and that's enough embarrassment. It's the same outcome if we go up through the auto's or the playoffs so I don't think that option is all doom and gloom.

Brussel sacked. KP finally sell up. Rudkins closet is emptied.

We win the JPT or whatever its called nowdays and having finally found some form we win the play offs as well just for giggles and Elon musk teams up with Beckam and gets Messi to finally answer if he csn do it at a cold Tuesday in Stoke.

Ignoring the obvious need for root and branch changes at the club at boardroom level, what does a successful season for us look like on the pitch this year?

A successful season looks like promotion.

Doesn't matter if we win the league at a canter or sneak through the playoffs by the skin of our teeth, and doesn't matter what we do in any cups but if we go up, that's a successful season.

If we don't, it isn't.
