Yeah, ask after we've signed no one but suddenly get linked to all and sundry on deadline day, where we get a couple of loan deals over the line

The novelty of signing a player for cash before the season has actually kicked off seems fanciful at this stage so I'm not holding any breath we go up

Avoiding another relegation and continuing to exist as a club without points deductions and financial penalties look like wins to me at the moment

What might be realistic and what is good might end up being 2 very different things. Anything but promotion is pretty disastrous but that might seem unrealistic by the time the season starts. Yet the total mess we're in means that even if promotion is not realistic and we're actually back at just trying to survive, there is no possible scenario where we can sit here and say we had a 'good' season if it doesn't include promotion.

Promotion at a canter and win the FA Trophy.

The fanbase are ****ing sick of this club's failure. It's about time they started making amends.

A good season...   GETTING OUT OF LEAGUE 1 AS CHAMPIONS.

Winning the Johnstones Paint trophy, or whatever its called- the ONLY trophy we havent won.

This would be a good season.

Moving away from slow passing sideways and backwards at the expense of a quick open pass.  Stop letting and enabling JV to control the style and tempo.

Getting Mavadidi and Fatawu to run into space ahead to receive a pass would be too much to ask at this stage.

Coaching/backroom staff that work on fitness, hold players to a higher standard, fix mistakes and adapt.  Not seeing the same mistakes every week with no improvement.

Loan players where we don’t have to use the caveat ‘if he stays fit’.

Promotion and 2/3 new signings looking like they’ll be top level in the champ next year and about 2/3 of the academy kids breaking the first team and becoming undroppable will do for me. No hope the board goes just get back into the Championship and reset the squad

Ignoring the obvious need for root and branch changes at the club at boardroom level, what does a successful season for us look like on the pitch this year?

We are most likely the best ever equipped club to compete at this level regardless of the financial issues we are facing.

For me, it has to be as comprehensive as a league and paint trophy double. League cup and FA cup are unfortunately no where near the capabilities of the club currently so not too fussed about them.

Anything else obviously represents the worst season in our 142 years and would be a dismal failure.

A good season is we move on all the high earners, Faes, Winks Vesty, Kristiansen, Okoli, Mavididi, Fatawu, Skipp and Thomas without getting screwed.

Then build a new team and we win the league comprehensivly without having to sack another manager.

I couldn't care less about the paint trophy, we should only use academy players in it.

2 months ago a lot of talk was about us going bust/having no money. So dependent on that our situation is it's hard to tell what a good season realistically looks like.

The fact we've hired Martin would suggest Rudkin thinks there will be money to play with. I just hope they're not risking the clubs future on going back up this season, especially with a guy that spent 30-40m at Rangers and could muster 1 win in 7 games.

The only thing I can say for sure now is, having a club not in danger of admin come next June would be a positive.

We can't bank on these idiots being able to forecast anything. They thought we'd get into Europe for a third season in a row, they thought breaking from our 'one large sale' model would work, they thought Cooper could keep us up, they thought we'd get away wth law fare VS PSR for a second time in a row. They thought we'd go straight back up last season. They thought we didn't need to sell in January 2024. They think consequences don't apply to Leicester City despite being beaten over the head by reality every season.

They're not gamblers in that they formulate a plan and take a risk, what they do instead is the bare minimum and hope it works out - because they've been lucky that approach has worked about 20% of the time for them when it should work out less than 5% of the time.

For a club of our stature in this league, well we shouldn’t get relegated to it in the first place but it should be the same end result as 2008/2009.

But without sorting out the fundamental problems, this doesn’t mean this is a realistic expectation.

If we turn up as the same lazy, unfit and arrogant team as last season, thinking we just need to turn up, we will get a very rude awakening.

Also, once the rot is so ingrained as it is here, it’s a massive ask to turn it around as we saw last season. The question is, can we go from winning about 20 games over 2 seasons to about 30 in one season? Do we have that type of psychological turn around in us? I don’t think so but it depends what happens with transfers I suppose.
