You're assuming that because he hasn't made a sub, he hasn't instructed them to retreat. Also if he's waiting 20 minutes, he quite clearly wasn't that arsed about it

It’s clear Tuchel made the call for us to sit back why else would he bring on defenders lol

We've tried everything else so why not him

I've been thinking about who next for England. And the best I could come up with was Brendan Rogers (as long as he was only appointed a year before a tournament). So maybe Rooney isn't such a bad shout. I suppose Pep is free. But he would never take it.

If I was one of the England players, I would be absolutely furious with my manager. I hope someone, perhaps the likes of Bellingham, has the balls to say "what the **** was that?" in the changing room afterwards

I kind of got the impression that this was gonna be a one tournament job whichever way it ended. Might be wrong

Yes I remember this when he first signed.Mission is to win the WC.18 games to do it in etc.

Rodgers used to do this all the time. Poor managers always do this. You throw on more defenders thinking it makes you more defensively sound.

It never works, it's absolutely stupid. Defenders defend so much on instinct, you throw on extra defenders and all of a sudden everything is unfamiliar. It's never a good idea to change defensive shape in the middle of the game.

It's even more stupid when there's a pretty high % chance of extra time.

I thought he went a bit early against Mexico. Probably more forgivable with 10 men, but even then is it? Because if Mexico equalise there is probably only one winner from there. Alas, we shut them out well and won.

The difference this time is they have far more quality and are also notoriously good at coming back. I just do not understand how a manager of his calibre and experience has fallen into that garbage.

Never any danger at all of us actually controlling the game from a winning position and strangling it - believing that we deserve to be in the position we're in, are capable of more. So insecure and self-defeating, again.

A sorry outcome made all the more so by its utter obviousness and predictability.

For all the praise he's had, that was genuinely one of the worst tactical decisions/bunch of subs I've ever seen (and let's be honest, we've been spoiled here with that over the last few years). Never made sense on any level

He took off Gordon and brought on Konsa - what message does that send to the players? He's should get the blame because that is a woeful call.

The player had spent 15 mins in their box before that to be fair. I assume he was thinking, if youre gonna do that I may as well get some lumps in there.

The ad break was the chance for a mentality reset and we came out exactly the same.

Player's cant shake the mindset of freaking out when we get a lead in big games.

Tuchel needs to go simple… it’s the same rubbish but this was worse than Southgate. With Southgate even though we lost I felt we were in those games and not totally totally outclassed like we were in that last 30 mins… that never happened. It was pathetic. The players I can’t blame here, Tuchel made the call to defend by bringing on defenders…

Gutted, we gifted it to them. Tuchel messed up big time, but are we letting the referee off the hook for that corrupt first half? Because we went in the lead, apologists will say it’s not the reason we lost, but the lack of action (twice in the first 3 mins) sets a tone and the course of the game.

You would not win an appeal if 2-3 those challenges resulted in red cards on the pitch in the first 10-15 mins, yellows would have been acceptable, but to give nothing - bs!

It’s so weird how tournaments make you forget how much you ****ing hate the national team.

Just snapped out of it finally.

Kane had to go to the only team in Germany that wins things to win a trophy ****ing dog shit

Not sure what else Kane could have done at Spurs to help them win something lol

Was the travel and altitude really an excuse tonight? -probably not.

Should Argentina have got this far? - well, no.

Did Tuchel get his squad selection slightly wrong? -yes

Did he get the tactics and subs wrong second half tonight? -yes

Did Argentina deserve to win this game? -yes

Bellingham went missing as well should have been on Fernandez

I don’t blame the players, not for this… this is on Tuchel you can’t expect players to do everything perfectly every minute when you are just sitting back for 30+ mins and allowing them to stick the ball in the box all the time

Eh? Did you sleep from our goal to the first sub? The players retreated to their own box immediately lol

The player's were well into sit back mode already
