England vs Argentina - Weds 15th July - 20.00 (BST)

No ifs or buts for England. We were a bit soft on Southgate because he improved us. But Tuchel was brought in to win.

Tonight was Southgate all over again. Croatia, Italy, now Argentina.

Tonight was purely psychological. Argentina had more balls. More passion. More belief. More personality. The sort of players you know will fight for the shirt. Not winning, the shirt. There’s a difference.

The sad thing is, England did the hard part and overcame the antics in the first half. As soon as they scored they bottled it. It’s so embarrassing to be English because we are happy with losing a semi final. They should get absolutely slaughtered for this

And flat track bully Kane goes missing at the sharp end again. A loser.

Is Micha Richards qualified to talk about the concentration you need at elite level?

Croatia 2018 - 1-0 up and dominant, sit back and lose 2-1

Italy 2021 - 1-0 up at home and dominant, sit back and lose on penalties, should have really lost in normal time

France 2022 - Actually played decent in this one and unlucky to lose

Spain 2024 - played completely into Spains hand and could have easily lost 3/4-0

Argentina 2026 - 1-0 and pretty comfortable, sit back and lose 2-1

Honestly think in 20 years time we’ll be sitting back and tearing our heads out about this era

We need a total break in mentality.

If we take the lead, the team has to feel like we've just gone down 1-0.  It needs something drastic.

You can blame Tuchel, but the team immediately sat back as they usually do.

Spain didn't do that against France. Frustrating that we usually look good snd then we consistently give the other team the initiative.

I dont understand why the players themselves,  pundits and fans nosh it off when it works against poorer teams lol

We'll always have the Azteca performance I guess. Just a shame we dont back ourselves when it comes to the crunch.

We had them exactly where we wanted them. I cannot believe the approach after we scored. We should have gone for the jugular as I truly believe we have slightly the better players overall.

You have players like Watkins that are made for these kind of games when you are struggling to keep the ball and just need someone up the pitch to keep the defenders occupied . Silly way to lose the game

Worst thing in a day was winning it in 66.

Silly to say but it's like an anchor around them.

These players, player v player should be the best in the World.

They now even have a " Great" manager who couldn't get them over the line.

Mentality?

Hmm  I'm sorry, I'm not having that.

4th, sure. 3rd, maybe. Semi final is about our level, further if everybody is on it. But beyond Kane and Bellingham we're nowhere near the required depth.

That horrible moment when you realise the manager doesn’t think you can score again, even though you scored two minutes ago.

We're not allowed to take Kane off

Why is Spence doing a little dance for the second goal? Get out to him you melt!

Oh well, we can all forget about this section of Foxestalk now and go on work on whatever it is Leicester are attempting to do.

He took off Gordon and brought on Konsa - what message does that send to the players? He's should get the blame because that is a woeful call.

That Mexico game could have easily gone the other way though!

Taking off Rice and Gordon for defenders (I sort of get the James sub but that's also in part what you deserve with such an injury prone and lacking in match fitness player, he was never going to last) so we had Burns, Konsa and O'Reilly on meant we absolutely deserved to lose. We were never going to defend successfully for 20 minutes, and what they hell did he expect, even if we had survived that, to happen in extra time???

And putting on Rashford and Toney on 90+6 minutes was pathetic. Way way too late. How were they supposed to attack when Tuchel had gutted the midfield for defenders?
