I don’t imagine anyone will be seriously interested in buying us until we start stringing some good results together. Another season in division 1 is a horrifying prospect for a new owner considering how much they want for us.

The more I hear you guys the more I think it’s going to be a consortium of sorts probably American maybe Saudi backed but an organization that already own several other sports teams. Like the 49er group that bought Leeds. As the mandalorians like to say “this is the way”

I would take another season in league one at the moment. Because league two is even more horrifying!!! And the way we are playing it looks a distinct possibility.

An American consortium has just been approved to buy League 2 side Shrewsbury Town

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cdx05qpn0kvo

Shrewsbury Town's long-running takeover saga is set to end after an American consortium was granted approval to buy the club.

The League Two club received written confirmation from the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) and the English Football League (EFL) on Monday confirming the as-yet-unidentified group's takeover had been approved.

The club said the new owner and principal investors will be announced "when we are able to do so".

"Now the regulatory processes have been successfully completed and approved, we move towards finalising the remaining documentation and concluding the takeover process as soon as possible," said a club statement., external

"The chairman remains fully committed to finalising the transaction and ensuring a smooth takeover process."

Salop chairman Roland Wycherley put the club up for sale in 2024, but the collapse of potential takeovers had led frustrated supporter groups to send him an open letter demanding answers.

"Our detailed response to the open letter which we received on Sunday, 6 September, will be made after due consideration," the Shrewsbury statement added.

"We thank all of our supporters for their patience, and we will update you as soon as we are able to do so."

Though news of the takeover approval came just 24 hours after the open letter was sent, supporters' frustration had been brewing for some time following several failed attempts to purchase the Shropshire club.

Negotiations with an American buyer collapsed in March 2025, and six months later a second bid from a different party also fell through.

The club continued to report interest, but there had been no substantial news until June this year, when takeover terms were reported to have been agreed with an American consortium.

Once completed, the sale will bring an end to Wycherley's 30-year tenure as owner.

Town suffered relegation from League One in 2024-25 and needed a late-season revival under new boss Gavin Cowan to avoid dropping into the National League last term.

'They've been close before'

Analysis - BBC Radio Shropshire sports editor Nick Southall

This is as close as Shrewsbury has come to completing a takeover.

They've been close before.

A different American businessman pulled out of the running a year and a half ago, before the Owners and Directors test.

So, this is a major milestone for the prospective owners to reach, and we could soon see a change which will bring chairman Roland Wycherley's 30-year spell at the top to an end.

Wycherley saved the club from bankruptcy in the 1990s and led the move to a brand-new stadium, leaving the iconic Gay Meadow.

There's no doubt football is a different beast now, and the prospect of new investment will come as a much-needed tonic, with Shrewsbury missing out on a number of key targets during the summer transfer window.

So, 14th September is creeping ever closer… 👀

The big question is: does anyone actually want to buy our football club? 😂

Here’s hoping there are some serious bidders out there, the offers are big enough to satisfy Flop & Co, and we can finally start dreaming about a new era at Leicester City. 🦊💙

And then there’s the mysterious Arab investor who’s supposedly lurking in the background… 👀💰 Who are they? Are they genuinely interested? Or is it another rumour destined for the ever-growing LCFC rumour graveyard? 😂

Realistically, we probably won’t suddenly get all the answers on the 14th. We might not even find out who’s bidding—if anyone is! But this is football, and Leicester City in particular… someone always seems to know someone who knows someone! 😂

So keep your eyes peeled for those conveniently timed “leaks”. 👀

Tick tock, Flop & Co… 14th September is coming. 🦊💙

Here’s hoping it brings the news so many of us have been waiting for: genuine interest, serious money and the possibility of a fresh start for Leicester City. 🤞🦊

I’ve been supporting Leicester for 70 years and this last few years must be some of the worst the club have been run. Let’s hope something happens on the 14 th for the better of the club. As you said we might not know if there are any bidders let’s just hope there is one honest bidder who wants to help us back to a well run club we can all get behind

Be honest, would anyone even want us for nothing, let alone buying us.

We're a club that struggles to balance its books in the Premier league anyway and wont be able to compete. The only way we'd compete is someone who has a ridiculous amount of contacts to sponsor the living sh1t out of everything. A lot of work that. Then the other way is a stadium expansion, money to spend.

We are in league one struggling, no parachute payments, no big premier league money. Even if we were to go back to back promotions, which we won't, you're going to be losing around 20-30m a year running the club to then be a yoyo club.. you're better off just buying a smaller league one club for 20m and building it up.

We have a decent sized local fan base and because of the 2010s, an interest overseas.. but thats all we have to offer.

So even if all debts are covered by KP say.. even if you got us on a free you're losing the best part of 50million without investing in the squad.

So unless someone with astronomical money wants to buy us for a laugh and dont care about what they spend then we ain't attracting anyone are we

Don't hold your breath. 14th Sept is for bidders to express interest. This list is likely to be commercial confidential and given RudTops communication track record I don't think the club will say anything at all. Usual itks and webguessers will have a field day.

I imagine that deadline is also there so that the family can decide whether we'll need to enter administration (if no expressions of interest have been made)

I genuinely think it's that serious/that's where we are.

Indian owners? My peoples? Sheesh not sure it would be a great idea but the world has changed a lot. Suppose we would need to understand who is involved, their wealth and experience details etc to have a better feel for good fit or not.........not that it is our choice.

Free food and booze? No chance. Lol.

Absolutely, this guy needs throwing in the bin. As you said a fantasist and just wants a story to tell on his next business venture … eg “did you know i nearly purchased leicester in 2026 i must be a good businessman”

If he's real he's just a front man, a spokesperson for others who don't want to be named at this juncture
