I thought he ended the season strongly to be honest. Might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, and ideally would like to move from him. But there are others I would rather see go.

He could've bulked up (a bit) this summer, for all we know.

But yes, him getting bullied off the ball was comical at times.

 

Definitely not the main reason we got relegated, though. One of the best in terms of assists last season, No.2 behind Fatawu in fact.

Regarding Thomas, he's not nearly athletic enough to be a top level full back. He's also not nearly athletic enough to be a good full back in our system.

Like Thomas's destined career trajectory was, at best, a couple of Carabao Cup sub appearances for us before being released. 

 

Joined Burton or Mansfield. Released 2 years later to join Anstey or Barwell. Jacks it at 23 to become an electrician. He should be by rights rewiring my gaff in the morning. 

 

He's for my money one of the luckiest, right place right time (injury crisis call up and covid - no crowds) footballers I've ever seen.

I agree with you.

 

It’s easy for people to sit on a forum and just call all these players shit.

 

Thomas has been really bad for us but he definitely showed some raw signs when he first broke through and has had moments, like pocketing Salah, assists from a good delivery, a couple of great goals even. 
 

Many players, even some tipped as wonder kids fail to build on the early hype or natural ability (by the way I am not saying Thomas was a wonder kid before anyone tries to suggest so), but the point being, much better talents than Thomas have fallen apart and ended up ending careers early or in non-league.

 

Sometimes it circumstances. Thomas coming through when he did probably ruined his development but he’s also capitalised financially on the club falling apart with the latest contract. But if not for the club’s incompetence, you could see him being the kind of case I have said above.

Completely disagree. He is a League 1/2 standard player. We gave him too many opportunities in my opinion and we should have moved him on years ago.

I'd have some more sympathy for Thomas if he wasn't in the pub all the time. We'd all give up a hell of a lot to play for Leicester, even now. With his physical limitations he should be eking out as much as possible from his body. He's supposedly Leicester fan and he's never engaged with the fanbase, he's never appeared pained by our demise despite playing through almost all of it.

 

I don't like Choudhury but he's a stronger character and at least outwardly appears a bit more bothered about the club. Proportionally, I think Thomas has probably gotten away with more than anybody at the club, 118 league starts and 3 relegations probably whilst earning something like £8m. Some of his defending, like Millwall away last season is genuinely some of the absolutely worst I've ever witnessed. He's probably directly cost us many goals as villains like Faes (maybe more!) but because he's too meek for a personality, he's not vilified for it.

 

If we signed him from say Peterborough he wouldn't have made 20 apps for us but he's probably the last of the academy players to directly be one of Rudkin's boys, so he's still here for what, 2 more years?

May well of had some assists, but look at all the mistakes  that led to goals which greatly  outweigh them.

You saying you don’t love it when he just runs into the back of forwards for no apparent reason, giving away a free kick in a dangerous position almost every time?

I think he seems like a nice lad but I seriously question how he made it as a professional footballer. He hasn’t improved since his first game in fact he has regressed massively.  I genuinely just wonder if he got lucky at the right times because I just don’t have any faith left in the guy

How many goals did we concede last season from him just shoving his winger to the ground? Was always grinning gormlessly after the foul was inevitably called too

The thought of having two athletic FB’s  either side, actually excites me more than it should do.

I like his approach. Needs to be given the ball quicker as today he had loads of space to run into but we took ages to spread it.

Everything you’d want in a left back- was hoping he might have a good season and we could tempt him back permanently or on another loan but I could see him being above our level next year even if we get promoted

My only comment, and it is more to do with tactics and his instructions than him, but it’d be good to see him overlap like JJ does. I realise this will be to do with the need to ‘invert’…

 

We seem very crowded down the middle as we are playing so high up the field, Braybrooke, Page and Chaplin/Cullen in that space, the wingers cutting in and Reid/Bristvic dropping deep. I feel we’d ask so many more questions if we pulled opponents wide overlapping.
