He is surplus to requirements at Ipswich.  He was, an established player in league 1 for Ipswich.  Fatawu on the other hand has had limited playing time in the premier league due to his ACL injury and Ipswich forked out 20 million for him.  We get an experienced player at this level who will help the youngsters in our squad who has previously played with Chaplin.  I don't see what's not to like.

As for finances, who knows, who cares.  Does it really matter if it gets us out of league 1 which is our aim.

I agree in terms of first team he’s surplus to requirements, but if he is why did they give him a new contract a month ago?

Wouldnt be at all surprised if this is tied to Fatawu deal since he was available for free a month ago and now they get PSR profit on their books.

Exactly this, we also have 'at a minimum' of 51 games this season, likely around 55 if we go a couple of rounds the Vertu. There will still be plenty of gametime for youngsters to play

Come the end of the season, I wouldn't be surprised to see youngsters like Alves getting (25+ appearances), Braybrooke (35+ apps), Page (30+), Carr (20+ apps), Aluko (25+ apps), JJ (25+ apps), which is decent IMO

Page and Carr will go out on loan probably. If they stay no way they are getting 20+ appearances unless it's 10 minutes off the bench here and there.

In all seriousness, given we get advances from Macquarie for future transfer fees owed I can't see how we take players as down payment when the time comes to pay us the yearly installment. Imagine packaging up Wes Burns to send in the post to Macquarie, they'd be delighted.

If Macquire could send him off on loan to Thames Water to block up some sewage leaks then I could get behind that

Everyone is slating him, but we desperately need some experience for the group.

He'll really help the young members of the medical staff to improve their sports massaging ability and crutch handing out technique.

To be fair I can see why he wants to come… no club has better facilities, and more experience of the rehabilitation of an ACL for a professional footballer, possibly in world football 🤣

Ric, you wanted us relegated if it meant KP was open to selling up... well here we are. Are we not a more attractive proposition to wealthy investors as a club on an upward rather than downward trajectory?  Failure to secure promotion will probably land us in administration where we'll be picked up by Sports Direct.

I'm not sure we can completely roll the dice with youth in the hope of increasing their market value. A balancing act for sure.

I could talk all day about this. I so badly want new ownership but for that to happen we either need Top to be willing to sell us for a cut price deal or to find an owner who is willing to see past the chaos and losses and trouser up a big amount on top of that to get us but then not be reckless when they own us.

I think the passage of time for any of this to happen runs to next summer where we'll need said tens of millions in player sales to keep ticking over and even ignoring that, my vision for this club has always been to do things differently and priority 1 is team is awash with home grown players produced in our academy. Don't want to hear excuses about you can't do it blah blah blah.

Finances absolutely matter especially if we don't make it out of League One...What matters more is if we're within our means as a Top 2 League One side and I imagine the new Chief Exec ex finance director knows more about that than a few posters on a forum.

There's still a long way to go and a big overhaul of players before the end of the transfer window.

We’ll probably sign Fernando Forestieri next on a free

Didn't he play in that PFA game? Think he was in one of their squads.

Lets get Vydra in as well.

Are Alves and Chaplin crocked do we know or just being careful with them?

Alves fit for Northampton, Chaplin possibly but definitely for Notts County is what Brussell said.

I don’t think it is that young though - there is already a lot of older and experienced players in there - with a lot of games at a higher level

Burns has to be the last “experienced” player we sign, we have plenty of them and don’t need any more

Keepers - 36, 27, 25

Right Backs - 27, 20, 19

Left backs - 25, 19

Centre backs - 28, 27, 25, 22

Centre mids - 28, 25, 22, 20, 18

Wingers / attacking mids - 33, 29, 28, 27, 21, 20, 18, 18, 17

Striker - 23*

Works out at an average age of 23.96 years btw

Think people are forgetting that the majority of our senior pros are either absolute weapons, due to leave, or both.

I want to see the academy players become our spine as much as the next person, but like others have said you can't just have a bunch of players with zero first-team experience tasked with getting out of the league over what is likely to be 50+ games once the cups have concluded.

We've been massively stung by the "experience" signings we've made in the recent past, so I'll reserve judgement until he's played a bit, but the benchmark for recent seasons is Coady and Ayew. 🤮  He only needs to contribute more than those dickheads in order to be a better mentor for the younger players. The alternative is that they get all their pointers from Hamza Choudhury. :dunno:

He's always impressed me when he's played against Leicester and also will link up with Chaplin very well.

He was also key to them being promoted to the Championship and still quite a key player when they got promoted to the Premier League the first time.

Another solid signing by the new Director of Football....

The answer to all our striker problems? Connor Wickham.

I feel like I'm getting trolled.

Years I've missed having the likes of Iwan and Sav at the club, it's obviously pretty cool having some players from your country at the club you support.

I move up to Leeds and they go bonkers signing top Welsh Internationals. Got Ampadu, Rodon, James now Wilson up here. I'm well jealous.

So Leicester finally go and sign not one but two current Welsh Internationals! Exciting stuff.

Who is it? Some exciting youngsters? Kpakio? Andrews? Koumas? Savage Jnr?

No, we miss out on Jordan James and sign Liam ****ing Cullen and Wes ****ing Burns.

Top levelling trolling from the universe.
