I could get behind this if a one year deal for a loan but it won’t be a sensible transfer as the only reason he’ll be coming here is for the length and size of the contract.

Any trajectory that he had with Ipswich has also completely dropped off since his mega injuries. Pointless.

What is happening is exactly what I hoped wouldn't happen. I was looking forward to a team of academy lads who have shown loads of promise, but instead hardly any of them will get a chance again.

McCarthy about 40 yrs old

McFarlane man city

Okoli shite

Souttar doesn't really want to be here

Aluko one academy lad

Skipp waste of space

Braybrooke two academy lads

Chaplin 30

Mavididi ****

Cullen 27

Burns 31

Hope I'm wrong but I was looking forward to the unknown Carr, Hutchinson, Neale, Joseph, Alves etc ripping it up but they'll probably just play in that vertu shit or go on loan.

As long as the chief scout is still here we’ll still have these signings. CAA Stellar backhanders.

I knew we’d sign him one day, been waiting to have this conversation with my Bristol city mate for years lol

Plays a starring role in his wife’s social media, both really down to earth and a good laugh to be fair!

Yeah he's a really good bloke. Not sure however if he's any good at football these days...

The League 1 points is irrelevant because if he’s got an injury record, he’s got an injury record. That doesn’t change subject to division

Notwithstanding the reason someone like Birmingham and Wrexham did so well post League 1 promotion was they didn’t just settle for players who’d do a job in L1

I doubt we would be settling for players like that as well if we had owners who were willing to and allowed to just throw money at it like Birmingham and Wrexham could

Only four of Birmingham twenty signings cost over £1.5m according to transfer markt. Six over a million. Wrexham only signed one for a fee over a million pounds

As one of the afore meantioned Ipswich fans I can say Wes was our best right winger last year. McAteer is improving but he was still no Wes nor was £20m Egli.

Good luck to him. Fond memories. Look up his goal with the outside of his right foot. (Beyond my ability to put it on here)

And of course him and Chappers know each others game so very well.

Fabulous player for Div 1.

Hope he does well at the Foxes.

That's changed my mind completely. He's going to be team of the season and shortlisted for Ballon D'or. #WelcomeWes

Another player that will be in one of the best players in the division, has experience of getting out of it before and is a good pro. Not sure what there is to dislike about it providing we aren’t giving him more than a 1+1 contract.

I want us to give young players plenty of opportunity just as much as everyone else, but we can’t have a team full of them.

They still spent over £30m total

We will likely only spend 10% of that

for me its a little bit of an odd signing, given his age, not long back from an ACL, just signed a new deal at ipswich

"We're in League One" so embrace the same tired old recruitment that landed us here in the first place, got it

He played a big part in Ipswich 3 promotions 2 of them being to the premier league 😂

Absolute dross and scum of the earth we have watched for last few years well and truly getting shown the exit door and some new model pros mixed in with some great exciting youth on loan and from in house that are ready - I don’t know honestly what people wanted apart from this - it’s exactly what’s needed to get us out of league one

the negativity within our own support continues to just put a downer on everything - I get that we are still angry and emotional about the last few years as a fan base but somewhere we need to draw a line and actually do our bit and support the new gaffer and new completely changed team or we become as bad as bloody vesteguard and winks

I think this lad is miles to good for league one so if going to be a great signing -anyone dropping to this level comes with a caveat - the business we have done so far both out and in seems very logical and positive to me which isn’t something you could say for last few years and I genuinely think the kids we have that are ready will play a part - the ones that aren’t ready won’t as we are seeing with the out loans

Any chance of us as a fan base trying to actually get behind the team again - we need to

Brilliant post mate!

whilst everyone wants our academy lads to succeed (myself included) we need experienced heads guiding them.

anyone who thinks we will go up by just playing the youth would be in for a massive shock.

We have always thrived from sending our lads out, look at KDH, Barnes etc.

Yeah largely on Stansfield which was daft and then another £8m on a couple of players from abroad max

There was plenty of players they picked up for a modest fee who are now part of their Championship squad. It can be done relatively modestly. Same applies to Wrexham.

Signing players to ‘do a job’ in League 1 is daft. 95% of our signings this summer should have been with an eye for next season in the championship
