This does feel very different to Bobby and Ayew though, who were both squad members in mid table PL teams who were getting replaced by better players. Bobby didnt get his deal renewed at Fulham. We bought them to try and survive the PL even know they were surplus in mid table teams. Wes is dropping 2 divisions, and although his time in the PL was going to be limited, he's dropping to a level he should provide value at.

A 3-year contract might've been the only way he'd sign for us. Expect that Championship clubs would only likely to have offered one or two years.

20k a week is a million quid a year.

Its 15k a week on a 3 year deal.

I have my doubts due to his injury history but there is no doubting he can be a quality player. If he stays fit he will be a brilliant signing for 75k a week.

Worth the gamble

What’s his weekly wage? Do you know or in the dark like everyone else?

Unless he's on a very very low wage, that's not really relevant to the length of deal is it

Lets pretend it's only 15k a week.

It's over three times the annual League 1 salary... for a 31 year old with a terrible recent injury record. For three years.

Great signing, those who are doubting it? Who would you sign instead? I’m pleased we‘ve got a good player for 3 years.

Just got to get behind the club now and unequivocally back everything they do and self-lobotomise

I can’t see anything wrong with this signing.

Seen someone mention this transfer window has been better than the one going into the PL with Cooper and it's hard to disagree.

That is like finishing above San Marino in qualifying tbf

You'd moan if we signed Messi!!!

Think we’ve signed a more reliable RW than Fatawu. The fact that his previous club’s fans are disappointed to see him go, and call him things like “league one cheat code” make me feel very positive about this business

Cooper’s PL transfer window was like someone playing FPL and purposely trying to get a record low score. Imagine filling your team with the likes of Ayew, BDCR and Skippy ffs.

Hope it proves to be a great signing.

Aside from everything else we’re adding good people into what was a squad of absolute wronguns, hopefully bring high standards with them and that can feed down to the young lads.

You could see last season Monga was feeding off the attitudes of those around him, this is a chance now to build a team spirit that could last for years to come… just like we did before.

Burns is joining a league one side for £75k. Fatawu is replacing him at a PL side after a £20mil transfer.

Yup, and the differing value reflects the trajectory of their careers which is more down to age than ability.

I’m a big Fatawu fan, but Burns won’t go missing like Abdul can

Nothing shady about the nominal fee imo.

He accepted a one year deal at Ipswich let's say hypothetically on £20k a week?

We come in with a 3 year deal on 10k a week, with a promotion bonus up to 12-15k.

Although it's less for him, he's willing to accept as its probably his last decent contract length anywhere and works out at more, especially if we go up, and Ipswich don't want to deny him that as he's been great for them.

That's also why we've done a 3 year deal, he wouldn't have come for any less on what we can afford to give him weekly in league one.

His Chairman said he honoured a gentleman’s agreement to not stand in his way if he found a good opportunity for him and his family, so the low 75k fee makes more sense. The chairman also raved about him on and off the pitch. Seems a top professional

Extremely short-sighted again. But good luck to him. I suppose their fans like him for a reason.

Yep. He's one of those players you get from time to time who isn't a star. Yet he performs consistently, to the extent that he can show up more expensively purchased players. Wes seems like a bum deal on the face of it. We definitely noticed when he was out injured though. Amid the Crufts pedigrees, he's the mongrel with the broken ear. But he never gives up and he's loved for it.

Good luck to him. He played his part in our resurgence from League One. I wouldn't mind betting he'll do the same for you.

No it's over 3 times the average league 1 salary for 1 year, then it is a below average salary in the middle of the championship for 2 years.

Providing we get promoted at the first time of asking.
