So far this year watched 4 films at the cinema (The joys of having an unlimited card)

Assassins Creed - 2/10

Manchester By the Sea - 7.5/10 - .5 extra and i prefered it to La La Land

La La Land - 7/10

Hacksaw Ridge - 9/10

Absolutely loved Hacksaw Ridge one of the best films ive seen in the past couple of years. The fact that its a true story as well makes it even better. Pretty sure its on Kodi as its been out in America since October but go see it at the cinema the battle scenes are some of the best i've seen.

Train to Busan. Sensational.

A quick check on Amazon shows a release date for the DVD as 27th feb.

Quite enjoy foreign language horror movies, used to have a fair few on DVD by Tartan Asia Extreme but had to sell a chunk of them a few years ago, very rarely do the Hollywood versions measure up though I thought The Ring was really well done, the new Ring movie is due out soonish too, just hope it does not suck.

Maybe this and others of it's ilk deserve their own "Bad movies" thread, but has anyone ever watched "The Room" (2003)?

It's not bad - it's f**king awful, the direction and dialogue are atrocious (it was written by a guy whose first language isn't English), there are sub-plots that never go anywhere, and the narrative makes little-to-no sense - and for me is one of the greatest films ever made, simply because of how much fun I had watching it.

If anyone hasn't then I'd recommend giving it a go. Don't watch it by yourself, get some mates around and have some beers (or whatever floats your boat.)

I'm going to a screening at the Prince Charles Theatre on Leicester Square in a few weeks, and I can't f**king wait.

Trainspotting  2 = absolutely bloody marvellous. I loved it to bits and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the old gang back together - just brilliant.

Unfair to compare it to the original though I think, as that was a real classic. The storyline in T2 didn't really matter that much to me as it was all about the nostalgia trip. The last 20 years have just flown by and if you loved the first film you must see this. Some hilarious laugh out loud moments too. 9/10

Going to see if I can get I Daniel Blake on Kodi. Nothing like watching a depressing film on a Saturday afternoon.

Found a copy. Not a great recording and subtitles but still a good watch and a must see. Sad in parts but I believe it was true to life as there are many in the position he was put in through no fault of his own other than he had a weak heart which prevented him doing the job that he was skilled at and had done for many years. His doctor and medical professionals  deemed him unfit for work but a box ticker said he was.

Been on the look out for that for a while, where did you find it?

A very moving and profound film.

Found it on my Kodi Can't remember what link. It wasn't a very good copy, subtitles in another language and background noise but managed to ignore that. It was mostly one on one conversation so could listen.

I am sure the part where the young woman at the foodbank was eating out of a tin was taken from a real incident. I saw something about the Trussell Trust that talked about it.

A friend of mine has just been put on JSA after 18 years on disability benefit. He suffers with depression and has had two recent heart scares. He is 50  in September. He said he had to go to a group session about how to find work and he said what was being said by the woman just went over his head and his mind was confused. He spoke to her afterwards saying he did not understand what she was saying. She said they would have a one to one session.

He has said he has no idea what job he could do or who would take him on. He is appealing though. He is becoming stressed out over it because he has only a little in his bank account and worried about not being able to pay bills and being evicted from his flat. Luckily he has plenty of friends to turn to.
