Let's have a films thread.

Went to see THE Suicide Squad earlier.

Terrible lazy title for a sequel, and that's pretty much reflects the film. Absolutely terrible.

The first hour was just awful. Second hour was better but interspersed with moments of utter baffling nonsense moments. The humour was 90% terrible as well.

It's like a really, really crap version of The Boys but without the good characters and performances.

The only thing stopping it getting 1/10 was Margot Robbie and Idris Elba who were both fairly decent. Everyone else stunk up the place, especially John Cena.

3/10 - Avoid at all costs until on free tv/streaming if you must.

Is that the one James Gunn did? I'd glancingly heard it was good.

Yep. He is responsible for the lazy title as he thought it'd be funny. The studio bafflingly went along with it

Half way through in the wild.

Based on a true story about a bloke who, yes you guessed it leaves everything and goes to live in the wild.

Really decent film directed by Sean Penn.

Had our first cinema experience for ages the other day to a lovely indie cinema in Oxford, to watch the Truffle Hunters.

It was an Italian documentary about old men and their truffle hunting dogs. Which, I appreciate, doesn't sound like the most enthralling of prospects for a film, but it's one of the most lovely and heartwarming films I've ever seen. If you love dogs (or old men) and the beautiful Italian mountains then I'd thoroughly recommend it.
