Takes a special level of incompetence to lose that, Azad propping us up. Just so many poor and bang average players. Not sure where the club goes from here and not sure what plan we have apart from a PC "leadership" ticking some boxes.

We have another lad on trial from Loughborough University, Nick Welch - just scored a century for the seconds. He played against us in the season opener against Loughborough MCCU and got 44. Seam bowler Alex Evans also played for them. We won by an innings and Javid and Azad had a partnership of 307 for the second wicket! Happy days!

Dearden another 2 failures, Horton past it, Dexter passed it, tail starts at 6, need to encourage young Swindels but he doesn't look like he can hit the ball of the square. 

 

Mike drives a ball on the up when playing for a draw!

 

Final humiliation Cosgrove coming on as 12th man and not being able to get the yellow bib more than half way over his belly! 

 

Probably with that batting side done well to get that far. 

 

Need to change now. Already looking to next year. Give the youngsters a go.

Yep good stuff. Young Bates is a great prospect also. Let's have a look at them what's to lose. 

 

Left arm opening bowler not bad either. 

Adam Rouse who averages late 30s keeps wicket and was at the Lords final last year with Kent is currently playing club cricket at my nephews club in Kent! 

 

Wants a club and is playing for a few Hundered quid a week. Why aren't we looking at these guys? 

 

Viljoen been looking for a club also having left Derby now gone to Kent having being playing club cricket.

 

Derby and Kent are not rich clubs! 

Viljoen would have been useful.

We seem to have a plethora of coaches but no scouting network.

 

When push comes to shove younger players look to the seniors to lead by example. We have no senior players leading by example. Asad is a first seasoner and is showing others how to do it. Apart from Ackerman they should all be ashamed.

 

Cosgrove's weight wasn't an issue 3 season ago when he was scoring tons of runs for fun but when he doesn't come off, at all, it's just setting a bad example. His ship has sailed. Time to bin him off. When was the last time he scored a match defining innings?

 

Horton doesn't seem to have the hard edge to dig it out now either. Bin him. When was the last time he scored a match defining innings?

 

Dexter, I can't comment on his absence and wouldn't want to speculate on any potential issues. However, when was his last match defining innings?

 

When we need something special they simply aren't capable of doing what Chris Dent did for Glocs and what Asad nearly did for us this week. F'ck them off.

Agreed. Cosgrove is more immobile now, perhaps even bigger. Above all else doesn't do it anymore

Why should young pro's come in and be expected to train their backsides off to be athletes and then someone waddles in and under-performs?

 

It shouldn't be tolerated and it is.

 

If he was scoring runs it wouldn't matter. But he hasn't gone large and changed a game for the last 2 seasons at least.

 

I hate to be critical but then you look at Asad and you see the total opposite. Young, humble, willing to learnt and turning into a prolific pro.

 

It's a sign of weak management that he's been allowed to get away with it.

Regarding Viljoen he left Derby because he wanted to become a specialist T20 player around the world not interested in playing 4 day cricket.What on earth was Abbas thinking with his final delivery.?

Glamorgan finished bottom by a mile last season this year with the same squad apart from an outstanding overseas player they are currently 2nd.Hate to say it because the guys a legend but questions have to be asked about Paul Nixon we have imo a better squad then Derby and Northants but aren't delivering.Dearden reminds me of Vince when he plays for England looks total class gets to about 20 then throws it away

Trouble is he hasn’t made a major score for two seasons, and he is our most experienced batsman. But yes, he isn’t the only one under performing. Of the normal top 6 or 7 only Hassan has contributed consistently. Horton and Cosgrove invariably get out between 20 and 40. Ackermann’s top score is 70. Dearden averages less than 20. Dexter scores a wonderful 180 and little else.

 

Hassan is showing what can be done with commitment and determination. He doesn’t have the shot making ability of the others, but he has tonnes of discipline
