Bettsy82 Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Heskey has never been a 20 goal a season man but if he does sign he will hold the ball up which is what NP wants. He's one of the best players who can do that as part of a front 3 with 2 of Nugent, Marshall, beckford, Vardy, waghorn or schlupp we will score a shit load of goals.
dimmerchant Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 You only have to look to how well Jason Roberts, 34, did at Reading. One of the main reasons for their meteoric rise up the league. His hold up play in this division was second to none. Neither are prolific goalscorers, but I reckon Heskey was, and still is, better. Come home Bruno.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 That's what people on here, and many many of them said at the start of last season, particularly after we signed Beckford.... A good strike PARTNERSHIP is crucial to any team. That intuitive understanding of where your partner is in relation to yourself. Emile could help in this respect. However, as many have stated, the SUPPLY to the front two needs to be better at City. I think we have enough strikers now. I still want to see a rapid winger down that right hand side who can beat a full back and deliver a cross into the box to on-running strikers. This was sorely missed last season IMO...
hemelfox Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 I think Emile would be an immense signing. Emile come home where you belong :-)

Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Written this about Emile: http://theseventytwo.com/football-league/championship/2012/05/25/emile-heskey-the-forgotten-foreword/
Haydos Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Don't want to see this happen. I'm ready to eat my words but I just don't think he is good enough any more.
Raw Dykes Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Heskey isn't a prolific goal scorer he's a partner-player. What he did for Owen he can do (in the championship) for Nugget and Bex. He is the exact type of player that Nugget and Bex need - whether he is the one though time will tell. I would have him like a shot if his fitness wasn't an issue. I really don't like this nickname at all. It's an insult, and I don't think Nugent, as one of our better players, deserves it. I'd be fine with someone like Beckford or Mills having a diss as a nickname, but I don't think Nugent has done anything to earn one. It's not even any shorter than his actual name. What's wrong with Nuge or The Nuge? It's shorter than Nugent, it sounds more like Nugent, and it's not slagging him off. I used to work with someone who was a right bloody nugget, and I hope i never meet another one. I seriously doubt the Nuge is anything like someone who I'd call a nugget.
Webbo Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Can't see this being a great success but I'll cheer him on just the same.
Carl the Llama Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 If Heskey comes we'll have Nugent, Vardy, Becks, Schlupp, Waghorn and Panayiotou all struggling for the 2 CF spots, or chuck Dyer and Marshall into the mix for the 3 attacking roles in a 433. Where does Heskey fit into that without a player being released or injured? And who would you release to make room for him? Not Vardy. Nuge and Becks are too good to get rid (both managed 15 goals in all last season despite the much noted poor delivery to them). Schlupp's got potential and a lot of support from the fans so he can't/shouldn't go and Panayiotou I don't know enough about but he scored the winner in his first match so I'd like to see more of him given the promising start. That leaves Waghorn who hasn't had enough of a chance to make an impact thanks to his injury out on loan last season but I remember his flashes of brilliance when he first joined us and would rather see that again than a man who hasn't managed double figures for the last 8 years during which he's managed just 20 assists and 27 goals in 206 appearances. That's about .1 goals/game as a scorer and .25/game as a team member - that's a contribution every 4 games. Poor.
Finnegan Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 If Heskey comes we'll have Nugent, Vardy, Becks, Schlupp, Waghorn and Panayiotou Far too early for Panayiotou, Schlupp is clearly not going to start and would be far better going out on loan to a strong League One club, it's pretty obvious to all and sundry that Waghorn has no major future at a team pushing for promotion (though I'd love him to prove me wrong) and there's no certainty Beckford will be here come August (though I hope he is.)
robbieLOVESthealmightylcfc Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 will someone tell me why people are calling emile bruno?

Vardy imo would also struggle in his first season at this level so doubt he'd start too.
Finnegan Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 will someone tell me why people are calling emile bruno? Was his nickname when he was here as a yoot. Because, apparently, he looked like Frank Bruno. He didn't at all, it's just because he was massive and black.

I agree with all that, but i think Waghorn might be a handy squad player. I'll be shocked if Beckford's still here when the season starts, Panayiotou will almost certainly be reserves or loaned out, and Schlupp could be backup or loaned out. That would mean Nugent, Heskey (if we get him), Vardy, Waghorn and maybe Schlupp for the first team, which I don't think is bad at all.

I do not want to see Waghorn's name in the starting eleven at all next season. If Heskey came I would assume he's going to be plan B from the bench. So I disagree and actually wouldn't want just those strikers next season.

So the player we've just signed for £1M, the striker who in his first season with us scored 12 League Goals (That's More Than Beckford), and the player who who was starting World Cup Games two years ago aren't good enough for us...
Stevosevic Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Seems he would be keen to come back, an old article from November 2011... http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-13863031-detail/story.html "Hypothetically, I would love to come back, so never say never – but my current loyalty obviously remains to Villa," said the 33-year-old. "Because I was born and raised in Leicester, and my family still live there, and it is the club where everything started for me, I can't say I will never go back. "Who knows where football will take me. We will have to just wait and see, but I can't rule it out."
Corky Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Don't want to see this happen. I'm ready to eat my words but I just don't think he is good enough any more. Saddens me to say it but I agree.
Fox42 Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 So, if he sign him would it be another bought striker or it's like nothing happened and he's one of our own?
