Happy Fox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 There are going to be some goodbyes over the summer reading that. Gallagher, Wellens, Beckford, Danns, St. Ledger, Waghorn, Vardy and Futacs are probably the favourites to go with Konchesky probably not far behind. This is going to be a very busy summer in terms of transfer activity, as we can't have all these outgoings without significant numbers of incoming players. We need a new left-back or two, a combative midfielder and another striker who can be relied upon to score goals. Vitor would be a superb capture as well given how he did here last time and his release from Benfica. LB 2* CM A winger preferably that can play on both flanks CB Striker.
cc_star Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Good to hear him sounding aggressive about shipping out the crap. Not so good to hear him complaining about negativity. One of the worst runs of form in the history of the club, yet he kept his job and the fans supported the club til the last minute. What more did he want? Everyone to be sucking up to him while his defence concedes yet another shit goal after shambolic defending from a corner? People praising his atrocious signings in vardy and futacs when we were struggling for goals? Everyone cheering when he brought Kane on for yet another completely pointless cameo? Get a grip Nigel ffs. You're lucky to be in a job with some of the crap your team served up this season. In the main totally agree, late in the poor run he can't complain about any negativity in the slightest, but I was staggered at the negativity very early in the run when less than 10mins into a game that wasn't going to plan... It was pretty unbelievable & counter productive to expect a group of young lads to play to their best in that atmosphere. That's exactly the point were support is needed. NP has a point, but then much later on... Your point stands too Later in the run he probably wouldn't have kept his job had Adkins been tempted by our likely approach. But pretending the fans supported to the very end is total bullshit. The fans folded at the first hint of it not going all our own way... And only came back onboard during the run-in when 1 defeat in 6 gave us a chance - and by then all the clackers & plastic flag brigade were here too

The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 What happens now - will all Pearson haters finally jump off that cliff or continue moaning and bitching as if there was no tomorrow? Sadly, they're too smart for their own good and will highly likely go for the latter option. I can see it coming. I fear for the worst - WE'RE DOOMED, DOOMED!!! Yeah it's gonna be a long four months of these bitches complaining that we've kept a manager that accomplished a top 6 finish.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 LB 2* CM A winger preferably that can play on both flanks CB Striker. Left-back should be Olsson from Blackburn, quality player. Central Midfielders could be Jedinak from Palace should they lose the play-off final, Leadbitter from Middlesbrough if not. Could Will Hughes from Derby be worth a look? Adomah from Bristol City might be a decent capture for the flanks. Vitor might be interested in a return given his success here last time. Paddy Madden from Yeovil has done brilliantly in League One and could be another Rhodes and Ebanks-Blake won't renew his contract for a League One side.
ealingfox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 He was also unhappy with the level of negativity that had surfaced during City's difficult spells this season. "It has been an unpredictable season but we have had some very good spells," he said. "I think there has been a disproportionate amount of negativity spoken about us at times. TOO BLOODY RIGHT.
StanSP Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Good. It could pay off planning this early ready for next season. Just gotta hope that Pearson stays then cos there's no point shipping out players or bringing in players if he's not even staying as well.
dynamark Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Shock manager speaks to press. How about'we need to get rid of some of the payers I signed after probably the worst run of form in the history of the club and tbh those lads weren't even playing'best thing nigel can do is get the owners to confirm/deny his position and then we all know where we are.If hes in then get on with the job in private

Hughes wouldn't come here nor would we be able to afford him.Luke Murphy would be my top priority if we are looking for a midfielder. Been linked with Cardiff, Stoke and Villa so he may be looking above us but if he's still at Crewe later in the window then he would be well worth it.

Luke Murphy is quality, but I mentioned him and someone said he will more than likely go to the Premier League. I think we could do with someone like him though, League 1 have some very good midfielders in it, Ed Upson for Yeovil has had a cracking season, Stephen Gleeson for MK Dons is highly rated, while now Peterborough have been relegated, Michael Bostwick might be worth a shout, he was brilliant for Stevenage, got made Peterborough captain, can play central defender and central midfield.
Landsend Fox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Not sure really what the Thai's are playing at??? The only planning Pearson needs to do is improve his record of results which to be perfectly honest are abysmal? Southampton 2008..... 21.43% Leicester (1st spell) ..... 50.40% Hull 2010/11...... 35.94 % Eeeek!! Leicester (2nd spell) 42.05% That's 88 games won 37.... Drew 21.... Lost 30 Malcky Mackay of Cardiff has a 46.67% of wins..... since June 2011... that's 105 games, 49 wins, 32 draws and 24 losses..... Pearson's Managerial career shows he does not have a good record which shows in the performance of the team as a whole? Pearsons total games are 311... w127.....d94.....lost 90 a ratio of 40.84% He says he knows what needs to be done? Walk away sounds good to me!!

Pearson's managerial career shows that he's saved two teams from relegation (Carlisle and Southampton), got us promoted as Champions from League One at the first time of asking, got us straight into the Championship playoffs and then returned to get us into the Championship playoffs again.

He might well end up at Villa, fits with their policy, good mates with Ashley Westwood but they've got a fair few midfielders so do they want another? I think if we acted early he could be tempted or leave it late when it might appear nobody else will come in for him. I do agree though, League 1 and even League 2 have some cracking players who could certainly make the step up. I'd add Forshaw at Brentford, Judge at Notts, Baxter at Oldham, Grigg at Walsall, Maguire from Sheff U, Maghoma from Burton, Wells from Bradford

Completely agree with this, the wheels completely fell off our campaign which Nigel is soley responsible for, I never buy into this blame the players, he chose them. Nige needs to accept the reasons for the negativity. Hopefully the young squad we have has grown up quickly and with some quality additions we could be a challenge. One of my biggest concerns is the managements ability of signing quality strikers, Defenders and midfielders appears to be ok, but Vardy, Kane, Futacs and Wood for me are lacking in ability.

Thought Bostwick was excellent for Peterborough when we played them at London Road.
m00nie Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 LB 2* CM A winger preferably that can play on both flanks CB Striker. so we still need 6 players yet one of the reasons people were against getting rid of NP was because they say a new manager would have to start over again...

Sorry but those stats with us are actually pretty decent. I don't know what you think a good record is but rest assured Mourinho and Ferguson's PL win % of 65-70 is way, way, way above average. You've also just said the guy who comfortably won the effing TITLE this season has only a marginally better % than NP in his second spell.
MC Prussian Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 so we still need 6 players yet one of the reasons people were against getting rid of NP was because they say a new manager would have to start over again... I don't see how getting five to six new players in is classified as having to start over again... The core of the current squad (15 to 20 players) remains the same. Besides, we would need the same amount of new players no matter what manager is in charge.

Also a new manager might not know which players to get rid of and therefore the rebuilding would be delayed further, and we could end up with some of the shit squad players still. Pearson knows which players to build a new team around, and after the experience of last season he will know what is needed to improve the team and the attitude of the squad.
KFS Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 A new manager might go and do stupid things like offer Paul Gallagher a lucrative deal for three years. Nice one Sven.
