Uncle Albert Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Leaving behind whether or not the punishment of Heysel was fair, to compare the two incidents is rediculous. At Heysel, 40 people died in the stadium due to rioting from Liverpool fans. In 2000, two Leeds fans died after getting into a fight in a rough area of Istanbul the night before the game. There was rioting between both sets of fans at Heysel, get your facts right before spouting shit.
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Anyone who thinks the bottom half is La Liga is inferior to the EPL can't watch any Spanish footy at all. It's miles clear of ours, Osasuna played Atletico off the pitch last week and beat them 3-0, they aren't losing to some shit like Norwich. Let's not go shouting statements like that based on one off games. For example Osasuna got whacked 5-0 by Sociedad not too long ago and Sociedad finish de bottom of a CL group which United won and also contained Leverkusen and Shakhtar. And Norwich beat Spurs at the weekend. Or we could say something like Swansea at Valencia this year? A relegation fighter in our league went to Valencia and battered them. All one off games that mean nothing really. Nobody can ever prove one leagues teams are better than another's unless we all join some kind of super league, but some of the statements about how bad the PL is are laughable. The past 2 or 3 years we've not been at the level of your Barcas, Reals or Bayerns, no. (Although Chelsea bt Barca and Bayern to win the CL and Arsenal beat Dortmund this year etc). But our league is pretty strong throughout. And more interesting this year than most others, for sure.
sylofox Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Don't worry IF Liverpool can qualify, I'm sure we can score enough goals for you all. Think they could but sadly concede a few too. Pop back with that comment when they have won the prem.
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Also can we all take a moment to admire how well Rio played tonight... “@Squawka: Rio Ferdinand vs Olympiakos: 0 tackling duels won, 0 interceptions, 0 headed duels won, 0 clearances & 2 fouls."
StanSP Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Also can we all take a moment to admire how well Rio played tonight... “@Squawka: Rio Ferdinand vs Olympiakos: 0 tackling duels won, 0 interceptions, 0 headed duels won, 0 clearances & 2 fouls." Davide De Gea made more successful passes than RVP tonight. RVP made only one successful pass to Rooney, as well.
Stadt Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 But it's the same in all leagues now, if you're a big club with massive amounts of money you're likely to win the title. Bayern Chelsea/Man City Barca/Real/Atleti(slight exception) PSG(Monaco will finish 2nd as a newly promoted side) Juve It's just the order of things, the last time a team not expected to win the title was Montpellier in what 2010/11? I can't see anything like that happening for a long while. FIFA (When Blatter dies, he'll probably live forever because actually a robot or something) will actually have to regulate finances somehow so not to destroy the current order but make it a little bit fairer, rather than farcical FFP.

With no disrespect at all it don't matter if it is 5000 Both the Heysel and hilsboro were accidents no one intended anyone to get hurt. They were both crushes and accident's. Pulling a knife is no accident using one is no accident. The end result may be different ie 1 or 50. but the intent is very different. Nothing will ever eraise Hillsboro or the Heysel but no one ever intended anyone to get hurt. However pulling a knife one person did intend someone to get hurt next time it may be you your dad or son. I really hope no city fan ever has to go through that. When the great Bill Shankley said "Football is more important than life" I really don't think he ment people should die or risk death for the game. I will die a blue but should I die cos I am blue.
AyewJoking Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Not sure they can local news (Norfolk) had FFP come in last season Norwich was 1 of only four clubs to comply. Not looked into it that say's FFP is in effect from now in the prem. And the sooner the better now watch wages come down and transfer fee's. and ticket prices, sky sports subscriptions?
Super_horns Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Do the players fear Moyes? Sir Alex would get right into them but you feel Moyes probably won't. They need a few new players but those top class ones they will try to get are going to demand the same sort of wages as Rooney has earned himself - which isn't going to be easy to fund without Champions league football.
Dan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I can't be the only one who thinks that 'the players don't respect Moyes' is more a fault of the players themselves than Moyes?
purpleronnie Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I can't be the only one who thinks that 'the players don't respect Moyes' is more a fault of the players themselves than Moyes? You're not the only one Dan.
Kitchandro Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26347919 Someone needs to give these managers a lesson in mind games. Some of the recent comments from several have been pathetic.
Dan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 You're not the only one Dan. It's pathetic. Have things really got that bad with behaviour of players that 'respecting the manager' is now considered something that isn't the norm? Even if they dislike the bloke - they're paid absolutely fantasy wages to do something they supposedly love, why would they let what they think of Moyes get in the way of that?

Even if they dislike the bloke - they're paid absolutely fantasy wages to do something they supposedly love, why would they let what they think of Moyes get in the way of that? Wages have nothing whatsoever to do with it. They dont overperform for their wages, just like you or I dont. We would overperform becuase we had extras - shared belief in what we are doing, how we are doing it and most importantly WHY we are doing it. If Moyes and his team are not creating an enivironment where what how and why are all clear and everyone is bought into it, then that is their failure. Fergie had it last year with basically the same team and was 12 points clear at this point of the season. It isn't the players.

Yesterday was not a performance from players who were desperate to go out and prove a point to their doubters. Yesterday was an absolute embarrassment where they were outfought and outplayed by a team from probably the 10th best league in Europe. Man Utd have got weaker along with other sides such as Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Everton & Liverpool all getting stronger. Moyes isn't blameless but neither are the players and too many people are making out that it's only one man's fault, it can't be.

Guest MattP Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Let's be honest Fergie has done him up a treat. Ferdy, Evra and Vidic virtually past it, RVP due a bad season with a few injuries. Youngesters nowhere near good enough for that level had been brought in. They stole a league last season as the rest were so bad and they managed to scramble so many games on the back of RVP's form. I think you can slag off Moyes for failure in the transfer market this summer, but in hindsight he was always on a hiding to nothing, the squad punched well above it's weight last year.

I hear you, I agree, however this team should not be performing this bad. Should still be in the top 3 or 4 in the Prem with ease and no disrespect to Olympiakos (I didn't actually realise how good they were till looking at a few thing within their league) but these players in the Man Utd team should be beating them home and away. Along with the fact you have made about Moyes' signings he has to go. The buck lies with him imo. Another thing (Unrelated to CL) just look how improved Everton are since Moyes has gone - Moyes did a good job with Everton, but they are arguably doing better without him. Man Utd/Fergie picked the wrong man.

Might not be Fergie's best squad but their results have been terrible. Losing at home to West Brom, Newcastle and Swansea, out of the FA Cup in the third round, showing little ambition against the teams around them, drawing at home to a Fulham side who played the 90 minutes in their own box, and now put in an abysmal performance in the one competition they have to do well in. The way they are playing currently you wonder how many Liverpool and Man City will put past them at Old Trafford
Stadt Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Old Traffird has lost the fear factor which in my opinion will hurt them more than any individual leaving or joining.
Matt Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Easy 6 points next season when we play United - For this reason I've retracted my statement of wanting Moyes sacked
Ross-Kemp Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Torres scores for Chelsea. 9 minutes for Chelsea to score tonight when the other 5 teams couldn't manage a goal between them in 450 minutes of football.
