Unabomber Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 How the hell is that not a penalty? Then he has the cheek to send Zabaleta off for being angry at him for being terrible at his job. That is so annoying how it was a clear pen, not given so you're bound to complain and then you get sent off to rub salt in the wound!
Beliall Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 referees a twat. would have like to see zabaleta continue gib=ving him grief even after the red card, horrendous decision
Corky Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 This ref has been awful (for both sides). Two penalties turned down and 165 free-kicks given to Barcelona.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Have Barcelona ever won a big Champions League knockout game against 11 men?
Corky Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Have Barcelona ever won a big Champions League knockout game against 11 men? Two finals count?

By all account he was hard on Barca 1st half but tough on City after the break.. Did somebody have a little word in his ear to put some pressure on him?
MC Prussian Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Have Barcelona ever won a big Champions League knockout game against 11 men? I'm sure you're repeating yourself, hence I'll repeat myself. April 6, 2010. Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal London.
Jimothy Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I'm sure you're repeating yourself, hence I'll repeat myself. April 6, 2010. Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal London. Mikel Silvestre played in that game, think that technically counts as playing with 10 men.
Dan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Have Barcelona ever won a big Champions League knockout game against 11 men? I'm sure you'd be saying that if they played in the Premier League. Watched most of yesterday's game although flicked over to see if Burnley hung on (and missed two goals, unbelievable). Missed the first half hour. What I did see... Man City could've actually gone through. They were so wasteful and Valdes had a great game. The referee was an absolute joke and if that's the top standard then I despair. Messi's finish was more proof of why he's the best finisher on the planet by a distance. Man City lost it in the first leg though. It's more experience for them I guess so lets see what they're made of next year. PSG are a serious dark horse to win this competition IMO. I think Bayern will win it but if there's one unexpected threat to that, then it's the Parisians.

It would have been a travesty if they had the officials kept City in it in the first half by disallowing what seemed to be a perfectly good goal to me and denying Barcelona a clear penalty, they should of been out of sight. City got better in the second half but Valdes made one good save from Djecko while Joe Hart was in fine form all night and made four of five great stops to keep Barce out if anyone had a great game it was him. If they were going to do anything in that game they needed Nasri to take that chance at the end of the first half instead of sticking it down Valdes's throat.
Uncle Albert Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Seems Liverpool are still the only English team to beat Barcelona away in the Nou Camp.. Can't see it changing anytime soon either.

Like I say I missed a lot of the first half. It was quite an entertaining game though. Man City approached the game exactly how they should've done the first leg. I agree about Hart actually. I think they'll learn from the whole experience though and there's no reason they can't come back next year a better side and more prepared. They really did chuck the whole thing at home by sitting back against a side who's defence has come in for criticism. They also seriously need a centre half.
Fox92 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Yeah, City lost it in the first leg. You can't expect to quality when you've got to go to a place like Barcelona and score 3 goals. They had their chances which they didn't take, and Barcelona only need that one chance to take and score which all good teams do. All this talk of "four trophies" (which, I think, every football fan knew wasn't going to happen anyway), has evaporated in the space of three days. They might not even win the PL either. So just the League Cup, which, when you've spent all that money is slightly depressing from a neutral. But, money doesn't buy success. You only have to look at Barcelona's team and notice how many are academy players. Messi's finish was sublime.

Chelsea, and I think eventually they might bring a few players through, but I'm not sure about that. Barcelona just have a ridiculous team ethic which is only natural considering how long they've all played together. I would laugh also if they end up with a Solitary League Cup to show for this season. Said from the start the quadruple talk was laughable.
AjcW Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Think the lack of chat in here shows how horrific and pointless tonights games were!
ScouseFox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 ronaldo hit the bar towards the end, inches from yet another hat trick. just the two goals tonight for the best player in the world.
Brooksy Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Think the lack of chat in here shows how horrific and pointless tonights games were! The Chelsea game was absolutely dreadful to watch.
Alf Bentley Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 The Chelsea game was absolutely dreadful to watch. Agree 100%. I want those 2 hours of my life back! How can Chelsea spend so many millions and still have such an unappealing team?! OK, I know Galatasaray were dire last night and Chelsea have some very technically skilled players but... so little verve or panache as a team, so many men behind the ball. They are a miserable, defensive-minded team and I hope they win nothing. I'd prefer Man City, Arsenal or Liverpool to win the league. Mourinho may be good entertainment value in the media, but his teams aren't entertaining on the pitch.

StanSP Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Is this the night where Moyes find out if the players really want to perform for him. Being 2 down you have to expect Man U to really go for goals from the off... I hope for their sake they don't play the way they did vs Fulham by just pummelling crosses in for 90mins. As a defender, it's easy to play against.
RowlattsFox Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Get the feeling United will get through tonight, everyone will think they have turned the corner before they lose at west ham at the weekend.
Dan Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 The Chelsea game was absolutely dreadful to watch. A Mourinho side at home to a side they should beat with the scores level. It was a banker to be shit but I still ended up watching it anyway. Genuinely got more entertainment from Wigan v Yeovil on Flash Scores.
