Lobsterboyuk Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Only 4 times in the clubs history have we gone 7 wins on the trot in the league. Boro have turned around a bit under Karanka but this is a tough test for them. Bit worried about some of the knocks some of the first choice lads seem to be carrying. Should be a nailed on win but once again, psychologically geared myself up for a wobble...
kingfox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I've always been confident when playing Middlesbrough, but with a new manager and a squad that is starting to pick up results, it could well be our toughest test against them for some time. They are getting linked with some good players as well in this window. Will judge depending on the knocks we picked up in defence today.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 0-1 loss. Or 2-1 win, could go either way
AndWhat? Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Number 1 form team in the league - Leicester Number 2 form team in the league - Boro Gunna be a good game!
DennisNedry Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Head says win, but heart says draw. Do you not mean that the other way around?
sylofox Posted 18 January 2014 Author Posted 18 January 2014 Burnley and QPR aren't playing on that Saturday so chance to build an even bigger gap which hopefully we can take. Can't be easy for them keep going out knowing we have won and a draw is of no use what so ever. Pressure on would love a couple more early ko or friday games. Understand not good for fans but must make there games harder.
Bryn Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Tough game. They are good, and from the wings they are VERY good, Adomah and Carayol have 17 between them. If they bring in a striker this week and don't lose Leadbitter they've got a quality team. Always fancy us at home though.
Simonb Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 1-0 phillips with a late assist for vardy to tap into an empty net
Brooksy Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Draw I reckon. It'd be unlike Leicester to win a 7th in a row, plus Boro are a decent side now.
MattyLCFC Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Draw I reckon. It'd be unlike Leicester to win a 7th in a row, plus Boro are a decent side now. You could say it's unlike Leicester to win 6 in a row, but here we are! A match similar to last season I think, scraping by with a single goal (minus the snow and boro penalty)
MC Prussian Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 What was Claridge saying on the Football League Show? Middlesbrough playing a 4-3-2-1? Hard to defend against. The win against Charlton was a scrappy one, though. Just like our win at Leeds.
Aus Fox Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Draw I reckon. It'd be unlike Leicester to win a 7th in a row, plus Boro are a decent side now. The thing is we have all ready won 6, and those 6 games have no baring on this game. They look a decent team, I think they will finish te season strong and get a play off place. However if they come to play football we will win, going for 3-2 city. 1-0 down and come back strong
Richard Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Normally do quite well against 'boro but our streak has to come to an end sometime and I have a feeling this might be it. If we do win we'll nick it late on
XLM Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Would be fantastic to break into 60 points before February. We should win really, MIddlesborough aren't a physical side and we're at home.
harpendenfox Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Boro have won 5 of the last 6 league games and won all those games without conceeding. They drew 2-2 with Bolton on new year's day. A big test lies ahead
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Boro have won 5 of the last 6 league games and won all those games without conceeding. They drew 2-2 with Bolton on new year's day. A big test lies aheadI agree Harps this will be a tough game for sureHopefully we can still win it though
MGLCFC Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 When you are at the top of the league all games are hard - teams want to knock you off your perch. We do have a good record in recent years against Middlesbrough, both home and away, but it will need a better performance than Saturday.
demon_dog Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Teams like this generally set there stall out for a draw or to hopefully nick a 1 - 0 win. Very good defensively. Probably find that they are difficult to break down. If they come and try to play an open game then we should beat them otherwise?
dayday Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I think we will win comfortably, boro are on a good run...yet nothing special, 3-1 for me
Babylon Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 The next three games are huge (aren't they all), but neither QPR or Burnley play on Sat, so we have a chance to put points on the board before them. They also play each other in three games time, so points are going to be dropped by someone in that game.
MGLCFC Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Win Saturday and it's a 9 point gap - points on the board is better than games in hand, teams playing catch up and fixture congestion. We'll get a week off to re- charge batteries as Forest will be in the 5th round of the cup in 4 weeks time. So I'd love four more straight wins, but I know the run will end at some point, but to have 69 points by 9th Feb would be outstanding.
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Why dont QPR or Burnley play on Sat?
