Matt Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 black people claiming racism like this this is racist against white people This. I have no respect when people play the racism card like this, it's pathetic.
Super_horns Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 If the FA were racist I doubt they would have picked the likes of Cole/Heskey and all the other black players who have played for England. BTW Hasn't Rio Ferdinand been skipper in the past? Of course it comes out when its time to sell a book...
Strokes Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 If woodgate wasn't a crock, Campbell wouldn't have had any where near the caps he did.
Bert Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 This. I have no respect when people play the racism card like this, it's pathetic. Totally agree. Gets brushed under the carpet most of the time. But if the shoe was on the other foot....
The Blur Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 This effectively extinguished any remaining respect I had for him. What a shame, he was a colossus but he has not been right in the head for a while.
Leicester_Fox1884 Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26383249 Sol Campbell has claimed he would have been "England captain for more than 10 years" if he had been born white. The former England defender makes the claims in an authorised biography serialised by the Sunday Times.(external) "I believe if I was white, I would have been England captain for more than 10 years - it's as simple as that," said the 39-year-old, who won 73 full caps, including three as captain. The Football Association is aware of the claims but declined to comment. Campbell, who made 646 senior appearances for Tottenham, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Notts County and Newcastle United before retiring in 2012, claimed: "I think the FA wished I was white. I had the credibility, performance-wise to be captain. "I was consistently in the heart of the defence and I was a club captain early in my career." He added: "I don't think it will change because they don't want it to and probably the majority of fans don't want it either. "It's alright to have black captains and mixed race in the Under-18s and Under-21s but not for the full national side - there is a ceiling and although no one has ever said it, I believe it's made of glass." Campbell's three games as England captain were in three friendlies - against Belgium and the Czech Republic in 1998 under Glenn Hoddle's management, and against the United States in 2005 under Sven-Goran Eriksson. I think these quotes are ridiculous. The position of England Captain was never available simply because of the millions of pounds The FA could make by exploiting Brand Beckham. It also didn't help that Ferdinand emerged from the 2002 World Cup as one of the best centre backs in the world so Campbell was no longer first choice for England. For him to play the race card is disgraceful and disrespectful to anyone who actually has suffered racist abuse/discrimination... ...but anything to sell a book, eh? It's players like sol Campbell that annoy me just pure arrogance thinking he was better than people like terry & Ferdinand he was a good player but there's no need to play the race card because he wasn't England captain he got 73 caps he should be happy with them instead of being jealous of beckham shameful words from him & he should be ashamed of himself all to sell a book like the op said
Jace Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Wasn't the last rumours about him being discriminated against was for being gay?
AyewJoking Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 what chance has a gay black man ever got of being England captain?
Kitchandro Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Some of Beckham's performances as England captain were the most inspirational I've ever seen. People always seem to want to talk his ability down because of his celebrity status, but he was a brilliant footballer with an incredible workrate and was the number one choice for captain by an absolute country mile. Rio Ferdinand was nowhere near him in any respect. Neville had a good captain-like attitude and workrate but he didn't have anything close to Beckham's ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and drive the whole team on. That was true for a while, but not post 2002. Remember at the world cup when he jumped out of the tackle? Hardly the action of a captain. There was also the stupid sending off against Argentina four years earlier. But as much as he earned forgiveness for that in the four years following, he lost the plot for his country after Korea. He kept being picked as captain despite being woefully out of form for ages.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 What a moron http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2012/jun/20/italy-england-history-youtube-clips See picture
Charnwood Norris Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I only thought Stan Collymoore would come out with such drivel.
Raj Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I could have been a pro footballer if i was white. Mind you it'd have helped if i was any good!
Beliall Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 i could have been a rap superstar and married beyonce if i was black
Sharpe's Fox Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Damn Sol that's some good book publicity, well played.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 If woodgate wasn't a crock, Campbell wouldn't have had any where near the caps he did. Bollocks. Campbell may be an absolute cretin but he was an absolutely world class centre back - like Ferdinand and Terry rolled into one.
Fox92 Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I thought we're supposed to be kicking it out; this is racist.
Strokes Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Bollocks. Campbell may be an absolute cretin but he was an absolutely world class centre back - like Ferdinand and Terry rolled into one. Woodgate would have been better injury free, without a shadow of doubt. He would have been better than Terry and Ferdinand too.
Stadt Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 If I was black I'd be faster at running. Joking aside, if a white person made such a ludicrous claim as this they'd be condemned by everybody in the media and I doubt anything will be said about Campbell. He's basically saying positive discrimination hasn't gone far enough.
AKCJ Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I don't know if there are captains in Basketball but just imagine the following scenario; "I'd be the captain of the Harlem Globetrotters if I was black". I personally think Sol Campbell is absolutely miles out of order. Edit; Just googled, Harlem Globetrotters aren't even a team
Danizen Posted 2 March 2014 Author Posted 2 March 2014 Woodgate would have been better injury free, without a shadow of doubt. He would have been better than Terry and Ferdinand too.Maybe but if Ledley King could train and didn't have his horrible injuries, he would've been ahead of all three of them.
