So do we all believe that the stated $30,000 REALLY is the limit?

This is a business, (like it or not) and you have the rules of supply and demand, if Kasper or any of our players is in demand, then if we want them, we pay the market rate (we are market leaders after all).

The 30,000 is a negotiation tool it is open to change to suit the needs of the club/team /manager

I think the club look to be doing things EXACTLY the right way, financially.

The last thing we need is to be giving out huge contracts before we consolidate ourselves in the Prem.

If Kasper (or any player) demand significantly more money than the club are willing to give, we need to let them move on.

Now is the time to be sensible, prudent, maintain the morale in the squad and to run a tight ship.

I don't know what Kasper's wage demands are? But if he wants 50k per week when the club are offering 30k, then we must thank him for his efforts, wish him all the best, but allow him to leave.

That's my take on things.

I dont disagree, Im not suggesting that Kasper should get 50k or whatever he wants... but, we have to pay the market rate for players.

If Messi turns up at the Top's door (which is likely after watching the parade etc).. im sure they would dig a little deeper.

I think drawing an arbitrary line in the sand for ALL, would be foolish.

But in business you make someone an offer and start any negotiations from that point.

It is the quickest way to get someone to show their hand.

Kasper himself seemed a little perplexed there had been no offer.

I understand what you are saying but it seems bad practice to not have made some sort of offer based on what the club see as reasonable. Even if it is not the final offer.

it doesn't have to be a fully drawn up contract it can be an informal offer.

I would think this is why lloyds agent is saying talks have broken down with regards to his offer the club must have made it clear it is a 12 month contract or nothing.

Seems they are playing a dangerous game with a few of the players.

I know it will all get sorted one way or another but having sealed promotion weeks ago you would think they would have made offers in principal.

I don't think you are with me and I think it's semantics.

In my work place you discuss all the contract details with the client and keep doing so until you reach an agreement (or near as damn it)... then you make the formal offer. That's how I am looking at what's probably happening. Just because Kasper says there hasn't been an offer, doesn't mean we aren't going backwards and forwards with his agent, discussing the finer details of what we and he wants.

Its not just the amount that is the worry it is alos how it affects the dressing room.

If team mates find out kasper is on 50k a week for example then the likes of Danny drinkwater (Player of the season) will turn round and want the same terms

It will have a ripple effect and couldn disrupt the dressing room

If the offer is in Aussie Dollars, we're ****ed.

Isn't that about a tenner or something..? ;)

this is exactly the problem that NP inherited and he wont allow it to happen again.  if there is an absolute stand out player available then i imagine they could sell it to the rest of the squad but they wont allow a big variance at the high end to develop a second time.

I don't see arsenal have offered anything as they can't talk to him till june 1st.

It's agent shite.

If a player is out of contract in june, they would of been able to discuss a new contract from January onwards with anyone they want to.

I'm sure I read a few months back that he's got a clause in his contract that he's not allowed to talk to British clubs til summer. Same might possibly go for other players out of contract too. He was fine to talk to overseas clubs.

Do people still not get this rule? Its not that complicated.

His contract expires 30th June (I'm assuming) and from 6 months before the end (i.e. December 30th) a club from OVERSEAS may approach said player under the pre-contract agreement.

DOMESTIC teams however, cannot make a legal approach until 1 month before a player's contract expires (i.e. 30th May).

If a club approaches a player 23 or under, then said player's current club will be due some compensation either agreed between the 2 clubs or settled by tribunal.

Not having a go MPH, just trying to explain it clearly. So in Kasper's case, he could have received a contract from a club overseas (i.e. Milan, Dortmund) but he cannot have spoken to Arsenal as of yet unless we have agreed a price to sell him which would seem pretty pointless considering they could get him on a free in 2 months time. So in other words, he has not been able to discuss a contract with anybody he wants  :) .

Hope that clears it up.

N.B. The exact dates may be wrong!

Wrong im afraid

When they are allowed to speak to him matters not, anyone interested would already have spoken to his agent whether they are allowed or not.

My readings are june the 1st from the same country even if the contract expires in july they can talk.

Thats why I stated at the start It's bollox and agent talk Wenger would not break that rule for Kasper.

And if juve or the Milan clubs really wanted kasper they could have sorted this in Jan when it was first put out they wanted him.

Agent Hype Bollox to me.

Yes they could and the Italian clubs could have done the deal in jan if it was for real.

Yes Arsenal could have spoke to his agent and made a deal on the QT but this story states they have made an offer.

They would not want that out in the open as it is against the rules and could be hit hard.

This to me is a none storey yes clubs may be interested but not as this is reported.

As I uderstand it it is june 1st but that is not in his contract it is a EUFA rule you can talk to over seas clubs but not your own fa clubs.

All club games are finished by that date in all countries so players can not make an agreement with a club in there own league when still having to face them.

But an agreement with an overseas club has little bearing.

He's just tweeted he 'loves London, what a place'

Off to Arsenal then.

😉

I bike over that bridge every morning and went past probably seconds before they were there. What's embarrassing is I had my full Leicester kit on as well that I often bike in. I bet I looked a right fcukin goober. They probably thought Lee Jobber was following them again.

not many of the arsenal players live 'in' london. The training ground is virtually in st albans by the m25 and a lot of players tend to live in s herts. its a fair effort to get in and out of london from here. Sometimes its probably easier and quicker by train from leicester! i rate kasper but i think a top four team like arsenal need a keeper who is better with his feet and distribution.

It is a shame when it comes down to money, but in most cases it does for everyone

Personally i hope and think he will stay, for the amount of time he has been here you would at least think he'd give it a go in the prem with the team he played a vital part in getting promoted.
