James McArthur

Have posted this in the Cambiasso thread too, but, an Italian reporter with 9k plus followers (including Oliver Kay from The Times) tweeted this not long ago...

Nicolò Schira @NicoSchira · 24m

Esteban #Cambiasso tomorrow should accept #Leicester's bid and to sign a contract until 2016. #LCFC

Suggests what I said above - both may be coming in. However, if there is varying news on McArthur, perhaps that is Dave Whelan playing a curve ball. We all know how angry Nigel was last night re Transfers, irrespective of the result.

Cambiasso himself has stated he'll only be taking a one year contract regardless of where he goes, so I'd say this Italian source is just another name to add to the list of clueless speculators.

This is a great signing. Quality player. Fingers crossed. James, Drinkwater, McArtur, Cambiasso and King is as much quality we've had in CM for a long, long time and is comparable to all but the best depth in the league.

THIS.

It's still a bit worrying that we do not have a player that can naturally play in the number 10 position. Maybe it's worth putting Knockaert there, he seems like a player that has the capabilities to play there.

Dave Whelan always comes across as old school and with lots of integrity. He wouldn't want to sully his strong reputation within the game. Giving Leicester credit for how we deal with transfers is typical of him.

My first post on the transfer saga's as I don't believe Leicester are currently the type of negotiators to gossip until a done deal. Accordingly, I ignore all people who say they are in the know, including Stringer until it's on the LCFC website.

Having watched City for 52 years, you learn to be patient! My main concern at the moment is that NP is focusing 100% on the Arsenal game.

Very Pleased about this, if it mean's that the Cambiasso deal is off then I think McArthur represents far better value for money, I think it would be silly to sign him aswell now when we need a striker and defender more. Excited to see him in the side, can see him coming straight in for the Arsenal game to! would I be right in saying he also has Premier League experience?

Don't get me wrong - not necessarily saying it's definitive info but he has called a couple of other deals recently too that include current/ex italian based players. Know that isn't saying a lot after recent news but if he is credible enough for someone in The Times (albeit not perfect, but in the same ilk as the Telegraph etc) then he may be worth a bit for knowledge. Whatever, though, looks like we will be signing some players as most of us thought would be the case.

Would it be impossible to think something along the lines of signing both players so one can learn from the other?

Signing cambiasso (providing that it does happen) would be very beneficial for McArther. It would of course mean that Cambiasso would effectively be a very well paid coach, but signing 2 players for the same position means that the younger one can learn from one of the best players, in recent times, in his position, even though he's at the end of his career.

Apparentley on twitter we are close on Dame N Doyle? Russian striker....

Is this one person or two? Reminds me of Mike Bassett when Bradley Walsh says boss who are Benson and Hedges? Apparently he had written the team down on the back of a fag packet.

Solid player but not happy about the price. Stinks of desperation to me.

Ok, £7m is quite a lot of money, but he is probably worth that. You have to think, his background isn't too dissimilar to Neil Lennon in how he's progressed. So, yes, I'd argue that is just about the right price. Not many better of his quality available for less.

James Mccarthy who is of similar level went for 11m to Everton

Yup.  Really happy with this signing and I'd always thought he was almost as good as McCarthy who went to Everton for 11m but was being touted as a potential MUFC target last season for 20m (not sure if Man U money is real though)...
