davieG Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Okazaki muses on playing in EPL KYODO JAN 7, 2015ARTICLE HISTORY PRINT SHARE CESSNOCK, AUSTRALIA – Japan striker Shinji Okazaki has admitted it would be a dream come true to play in the English Premier League following reports Leicester City has made an offer for the Mainz hitman. Leicester has reportedly tabled an £8 million ($12 million) bid, but Bundesliga side Mainz is looking for £10 million for the 28-year-old, who has scored eight times in 16 league appearances this season and is currently in Australia with Japan ahead of its Asian Cup title defense. “I haven’t heard all the details personally and I am not overvaluing myself but obviously it is nice to get that kind of offer,” Okazaki told Kyodo News after Japan trained in blistering heat on Wednesday. “It has been a dream of mine since my youth to play in the Premier League and I have been watching the Premier League since I turned pro. “I am not saying that the level is higher than the Bundesliga but the leagues have a different kind of quality and different culture.” He added, “It would be very interesting. I would view this as my last chance, wherever I go. I think there is more individual quality in the Premier League, while it is more about teamwork in the Bundesliga and I think that suits Japanese players more.”
mowmacrefox Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Arsenal and Liverpool also interested http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/550688/Arsenal-Liverpool-Shinji-Okazaki-Leicester
Bamba's Babes Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 He intrigues me. Would prefer that money to be spent on a winger or left back.
Greg2607 Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 http://www.winnersports.co.uk/okazaki-wants-to-impress-leicester-city-fc-95804 bit of a rehash of the same story. He sounds keen however.....
les-tah Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 minium of 1 maxium of 2 strikers needed this window , would rather concentrate on a left back and super creative midfielder
Bagworthblue Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Sky just reported the player's sources have confirmed deal close in principle per above post
MPH Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 If we sign him as well then that would be a glowing endorsement of Pearson and his team, but not a glowing endorsement of our current strikers!
ScouseFox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 this is turning into my new fav transfer window ever
Fosse93 Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Wow. He's at the Asia Cup though isn't he? Think so.
Dan Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Seriously If we go down we will surely be going down with the most expensive attack to ever be relegated.
Robin JD Popley Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Deal close, in principle This would be another brilliant signing by us - I said we could spend AT LEAST £15m* this window! (Barring hiccups of course, we are almost there).
dorsetboy Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 no brainer if you ask me the fact hes from japan and the market over there the deal will prob pay for itself in advertising and income from that market
Robin JD Popley Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 no brainer if you ask me the fact hes from japan and the market over there the deal will prob pay for itself in advertising and income from that market Yuki Abe Mark II - and we all loved Yuki. Was gutted when he left although it was entirely understandable.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Seriously If we go down we will surely be going down with the most expensive attack to ever be relegated. Weren't Owen and Martins still at Newcastle when they went down? I'm sure they cost 15 million each or something
FireFox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Hell yes. Imagine our attacking power when we get him and when we get Mahrez back.
Ric Flair Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Is he not a similar player to Kramaric? He's a number 10 and not a 9 type player. I hope this isn't as back-up for Kramaric, in the sense that the club are worried it'll fall through. That said he is a big talent.
kingfox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Abe, maybe Okazaki, if we stay up can we get Keisuke Honda next season.
Stevosevic Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Excuse my ignorance, i should know better but is Thurnby a reliable ITK?
Nick Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Hell yes. Imagine our attacking power when we get him and when we get Mahrez back. Great User ID ! Welcome.
