Donut Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Have to be wary of the big counter attacking threat in this one. Im setting myself up for criticism here, but i thought other than score, Sanogo had a great game for Arsenal against us leading the line and i can see him giving Wes and Was a tough time. Defend a little deeper to negate the pace they possess? This will be the game Kramaric gets off the mark. Schwarzer Simpson Wasilewski Morgan De Laet Albrighton Cambiasso James Mahrez Nugent Kramaric Bench: Hamer, Moore, Konchesky, Lawrence, Drinkwater, Knockaert, Ulloa
palace123 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 you not counting the weekend or...? We conceded in the 2nd minute then have the majority of posession but to be fair to Everton they defended really well
SecretPro Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Kramaric needs to get back to the bench, he's just not ready to play from the start at such a crucial time. He's better off getting 30 minutes every week until he's up to the pace of things. The pressure is getting to him, he's gone about 10 matches now without scoring from open play, so he needs to come on when things are bit more open and defences are tiring a bit. I'm not a Nugent fan but his energy is needed to wear them down and make life a bit easier for Kramaric later on Albrighton deserves a start, Mahrez will probably be jaded anyway. Palace have done some good business in this window and will be coming here probably expecting a win. Might take 3 goals to win this game No. The poor bloke hasn't played with anybody capable of passing him the ball yet. And he's most likely only here till end of the season. So use him.
Bettsj2 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Dreading this game. I can see defeat, fighting in the stands and loads of booing. My fear is this could be the equivalent of Villa at home last time we were in the Prem. Basically a footballing rape that leaves us in no doubt where we're ending up. I'm sorry to be a doom and gloom merchant and I really dont want it to happen, but I have a horrible feeling about the game.
Stevosevic Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 People would genuinely be happy with a point in one of our most winnable remaining games? I don't get some peoples logic, we need wins as soon as possible.
Spicer Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Was Wes RDL Albrighton James Hammond Schlupp Mahrez Kramaric
daddylonglegs Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Was Huth (not Wes) Schlupp James Cambiasso Mahrez Nugent Albrighton Kramaric Subs: Schwarzer, RDL, King, Drinkwater, Vardy, Knockaert, Ulloa Edit: forgot about the party jamie vary
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Important game for us. I seem to recall a few years ago at the King Power when Zaha and Bolasie were on the wings for Palace, they were superb with the pace and skill they both had on that particular day. Both very good players who are still at Palace, but of course Bolasie won't feature on Saturday because of the African Cup of Nations. However with Mahrez returning back from the African Cup of Nations and with the chance of him coming back into our side, it's a nice boost for us.
RokoNZ Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 No. The poor bloke hasn't played with anybody capable of passing him the ball yet. And he's most likely only here till end of the season. So use him. I know you've paid top dollar hoping for an instant impact, but the reality is that he's not going to take the prem by storm immediately, he's off the pace and intensity required to start matches. I think he'd be better off having 35 minutes at the end of matches, when most of the chances seem to be coming. Let Nugent and co wear them down a bit first. Ideally he would be capable of starting, but it's immediately obvious that he's exactly like every other Croat who's come from a slower league, and if he wasn't the record signing he would probably be dropped on the performance he put in at United anyway
dogadug Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Palace have Bolasie and Zaha on the wings, Konchesky cannot play no matter what!
ealingfox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Cambiasso, Ulloa and Krammy have to play because they've got foreign quality, English players just don't have that.
One Legged Beaver Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 To be honest, if I was our manager besides Wes and Was I wouldn't know what formation or starting line up I'd choose for this game.
ramadaone Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I take all you lot picking RDL at left back weren't at Old Trafford because he was simply horrific going forward and not much better in defence
NewquayFox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Huth CAN''T play he's SUSPENDED so get him off your feckin team sheets and bench.....
TheUltimateWinner Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Was Upson Konch Cambiasso Hammond/James (dunno if he's back) Albrighton Kramaric Schlupp Nugent
benpicko Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Looking at our play since we ended that run, I think it's obvious we need Nugent involved. There's something about him that adds a bit of zip to the side and increases the tempo of the other players. Without him, we've been nothing better than absolutely dreadful. Hammond too, a midfielder tasked with covering the defence is one of the key positions in Premier League Hamer RDL Wasilewski Morgan Schlupp Albrighton Hammond King Lawrence Nugent Ulloa Subs: Schwartzer, Krameric, Mahrez, Huth, Panayiotou, James, Konchesky This one just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. De Laet's useless at right back and has been decent at left back yet he's back there and Simpson's not even in the squad? Schlupp's also a much better winger than Lawrence, who's hardly played yes but when he has he's looked as though he's won a competition to play for us, and Mahrez is good enough that he should be able to wander directly back into the squad. Even if you want to continue the Albrighton wankfest just because he hasn't been playing when he should have been, Knockaert and Mahrez are both more than capable of playing on the left side and are miles better than Lawrence. James is our best midfielder going forward and Hammond's our best defensively so those two have to be in midfield. And I'd start Kramaric up front to see if he can actually finish when he's given service, which he should do if we start playing how we were before the last two matches (with James and Nugent back in there). Huth's still banned. No way should Panayoitou be anywhere near the squad either just because he scored the two scrappiest goals of all time against Man City's development side. Didn't even start for Port Vale. I agree with Nugent though and it started off sensibly so I prematurely repped it.
red5 Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 you not counting the weekend or...? We conceded in the 2nd minute then have the majority of posession but to be fair to Everton they defended really well That's a No then
Max Power Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Wasyl Morgan Schlupp Albrighton James Cambiasso Mahrez Kramaric Ulloa Frustrating 1-1 draw awaits.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 I honestly don't know where to start with this, as there are question marks in almost every position.Goalkeeper- Is Schwarzer any better than Hamer. Are either of them good enough?Right Back - Simpson's inclusion in the side has brought about better results. But I don't think his inclusion is the reason for it. He is shakey when people run at him with any pace, gets caught out positionally, as poor as Konch in possession and doesn't get past the half way line much. RDL is better going forward, but switches off far too often and quality wingers have tore his apartLeft Back- Konch is given a rough ride on here, but his distribution is poor, not very good in the air and is prone to a rush of blood. Better defensively than he is given credit for. RDL can't use his left foot so stalls every attack down the left hand side. Schlupp has put his best run of games together in his career on the wing, and last year was suspect defensively in this position. Centre Back- Was is probably the first name on the team sheet on current form. Morgan has struggled in recent weeks but Moore has looked completely naive at this level. Upson is experienced but not played in almost a year and is he still up to this standard?Wingers - Schlupp and Mahrez were good before Mahrez went off to Africa. In the meantime Vardy has been useless there, but Albrighton has done enough to warrant a start. But who out of Mahrez and Schlupp would be left out to accommodate him?Centre Midfield - King can't play at this level. So its 2 (or 3) from the remaining 4. Hammond has proven he can step up this season, but his quality on the ball isn't great. Drinkwater is a shadow of his former self, but has put the odd performance in to show he can step up. Cambiasso has the most quality in terms of on the ball, but doesn't have the legs to play in a midfield 2. James was playing himself into form before the suspension, but is also pretty slow.Strikers - I can't think of Ulloa having many good games, but is the only one of our strikers who can find the net. His hold up play is pretty poor and big defenders easily nulify him. Despite his lack of quality we win more games when Nugent plays, is this luck or his contribution. Kramaric has shown odd bit of quality, but looks like a man who needs to time to settle, something we simply don't have. Vardy for all his huff and puff lacks the quality at this level. All that being said this is probably what I would throw together if I were the manager.HamerDe LaetMorganWasylKonchMahrezHammondJamesSchluppNugentUlloaI don't think that is our individual best 11 players, but the best 11 players as a team on current form.
jack-lcfc Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Was thinking that we may change the formation? Hamer Was Upson Wes De leat Schlupp Cambiasso James Drinkwater Kramaric Ulloa I don't like not having mahrez in this 5-3-2, could maybe go 4-3-3? Hamer Simpson Was Wes Konch Cambiasso James Drinkwater Mahrez Schlupp Kramaric Personally like the 4-3-3 just some ideas with the options we have
