Sly Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Agreed that he offers something different. Look at it this way, David Nugent, Francis Jeffers, Michael Ball (Remember him??), Michael Ricketts, Darius Vassell, Paul Konchesky have all got at least one, so why can't Vardy?
Munshi Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Vardy and Rooney up top doesn't sound half bad if you ask me
Captain... Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 I'm not sure I understand how anybody can justify Vardy NOT being good enough for England. He's one of the most in form footballers in the world at present. Probably THE most in form Englishmen. And as probably the most in form Englishmen in the league, how many goals has he scored? Bundled one in against Burnley, scored a blinder against West Brom, but 2 in 7 is not international form. This isn't taking anything away from his impact and effectiveness, but it highlights why he is not good enough for England, but he is amazing for us.

He gives a vast majority of the defenders he comes up against nightmares, not by his goalscoring threat but by his relentless and tireless pace and will to win. He is an unstoppable provider when he's at his best and that is something most clubs (and nations) who are successful possess, a provider. When Vardy is on form he is good enough, he has pace in abundance and that is a very desirable trait in todays day and age. He at least deserves a chance, I thought Peter Crouch would be terrible for England and he exceeded my expectations and got 20 odds goals. I'm not saying Vardy will get that many goals, but if he turns out as another surprisingly (for most) good player for England then he could provide some very important ones.
My Nads Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 England are terrible and horrible to watch theses days. Slow paced, no commitment and boring. I can't understand why most of you think Vardy wouldn't be good enough to play for England. He'd be the stand out player in an average England team. Most if not all of them only turn up in body anyway. Vardy would be fantastic for England and he should be called up. It would make England worth watching again.

Look at the last few tournaments 0 urgency 0 effort. 2 things that you are gaurenteed to get with Vardy. He could actually be the missing link.
roblcfc84 Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Liverpool fan at work said to me yesterday that he'd take vardy as another option to what they have. For me no reason why he shouldn't get a game for England. Encapsulates every that is has been missing in recent years - not the greatest from a technical perspective but at international level you don't need 11 world beaters - 3/4 very good players can bring success if you have committed hard working players around them - as an option worth a go...surely going to offer more than lambert would on current form
shailen Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Around January, alot of people on here wanted to sell him saying he was not good enough for this league. He is a little too inconsistent to do it at the top level. When he is hot, yes he is hot but that isn't too often. Players like Rooney consistently play because they consistently perform. Think he could do a job from the bench, but I can't see him as a regular as much as I would love him to be. The workrate and energy is immense, but unfortunately you need more than that.
Stevosevic Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11610638/Aston-Villas-Tom-Cleverley-set-for-England-return.html More of the same at the bottom. "Hard to ignore"
fazzyfox Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 I want the players in my national team to have the work rate and enthusiasm that he has. In tournament football he could be a wild card inclusion for games where we do not have much of the ball (in recent years that's just about all tournament matches I know) and you are guaranteed that he will provide a pressure point and a will not give defenders time to pick passes. It may be a different era but ask Italians about Toto Schillaci and what an unexpected hero he was. To be fair if I wasn't a City fan I would be questioning the merits of pursuing a player of his age and with a rawer playing style than the attempted smooth precise style of the national team but someone who can tear past opponents, cause chaos, create chances and win penalties shouldn't be ignored until England look capable of winning every game they compete in.
Stevosevic Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Squads announced today at 1 i think. Anyone ITK about this? The club will know by now if he's in

Vardy's season this year is a bit like his first with us where he showed the raw promise, talent, speed etc. but lacked "experience" stepping up and some polish. We saw what he contributed last season in only his second year at Championship level from non league so I am expecting with his form and hopefully confidence over past 2 months he will progress even further next season and we can revisit this topic next season at some point.
ousefox Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 I'm sure the fact he's been playing through injuries won't help his already small chance.
trabuch Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 I feel an almost paternal pride. Well done Jamie. I might watch England again now.
CosbehFox Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Very happy for him. What a story up the levels of football.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Buying an England shirt now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cjslcfc Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Wow. Well done to Vards! You can't say he hasn't worked very hard for this opportunity. I think with a fully fit England squad he gets nowhere near the team but it's fantastic to see him given a chance. It can only be a good thing for us I feel. A chance to play at international level may well help bring his game on even more.
wc-remix Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Congratulations. Over the moon for the lad. Really deserves it.
