BrummieFOX Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Agreed, I'd quite happily take Deeney or Ighalo in the summer.
ARTY_FOX Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Just goes to show you shouldn't judge someone off of one story in the paper.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 What's deluded about being happy with a draw after playing the game with 10 men for almost half a game? Palace have only won 1 game in 4 months
AKCJ Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Deeney is thug scum don't want him near our club for what he has done. One good word about us everyone loves him. But that gives an insight as to why he ended up in prison. But he was still judged on here by people who did not know the facts or give him a chance. We've got a drink driving captain, a woman beating right back, a transphobic centre half, a striker convicted of assault and a winger that's been banned from driving.
filbertway Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Palace have only won 1 game in 4 months Everton have hardly been flying themselves.
UPinCarolina Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 We've got a drink driving captain, a woman beating right back, a transphobic centre half, a striker convicted of assault and a winger that's been banned from driving. Sounds like a proper American football defense right there.
ScouseFox Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 What's deluded about being happy with a draw after playing the game with 10 men for almost half a game? it's the same old bull shite tho ain't it. and it's the way he said it. if he'd said "we did alright in the end to get a point after playing for so long with ten men" then nobody would bat an eyelid. the fact his quote was that the match was "extremely satisfying" isn't gonna go down well really. there's nothing satisfying with drawing 0-0 with palace, 11 men or not.

I think his days are numbered there, seems to be stalling their progress at best and setting them back years at worst. Just seemed odd that of all the things you could pick Martinez up on, being happy with a draw, away from home with 10 men, would be the one to use.

He doesn't have to come out and say how happy he is though, that's the point.

Not difficult.
Bryn Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 I didn't realise he was only 27. He'd be ****ing great up top with Vardy but I fancy he finishes his career at Watford.
FrankieADZ Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 the deal West Ham have got from the new Stadium they are moving into is a bit of a joke imo, only paying £2.5mil a year and not even paying for the goal post, corner flags, heating etc.
filbertway Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 "We went into the game with the intention of winning it but the sending made that difficult so I suppose we did okay in the end". Not difficult. Cautious, assertive or passionate?

Fox92 Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 the deal West Ham have got from the new Stadium they are moving into is a bit of a joke imo, only paying £2.5mil a year and not even paying for the goal post, corner flags, heating etc. They aren't paying casual staff - turnstile operators, cleaners etc - and they aren't paying for heating and lighting either. West Ham have said it's a great deal for the club and the taxpayer. Dunno why are we paying for it, then again we pay for a lot of stupid stuff as the taxpayer. Taxman eh, ****.

Not the first and won't be the last to kick someone in the head in a brawl. Released early because he showed remorse. Was this a one off incident? If it was and he's learnt a lesson then time to forgive and forget.
Captain... Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 It isn't right, why should the tax payer help West Ham unreal West Ham are renting the ground, so the state/tax payers are the landlords. It's not a bad deal for the state, 2.5m a year and they still own a multi-million pound asset. When you consider the millennium dome and other money pits. The only thing I disagree with about the deal is the cost to convert the stadium into a football ground being £272M and WH only paying £15m, but then the LLDC will profit from any other games played there, internationals, tournaments, high profile friendlies etc. Could it host the Champion's League final? I would be interested to know if it could still hold athletics events there in the summer. Of course West Ham could pay more in rent etc, and any renovations/redevelopments should be paid for buy West Ham, but considering the amount of use that has been made of it since the Olympics, at least it isn't just sitting there unused.
Samilktray Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 They'll pay there rent with about 1 matches worth of ticket sales won't they
jammie82uk Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 New rulings for next season which instead of clearing things up will just cause another avenue of debate IFAB anounces law changes, softening punishment for fouls inside the box Accidental fouls inside the box will not be an automatic sending-off Accidental fouls inside the box will not be an automatic sending-off The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has published changes to the laws of the game for the 2016/17 season, the most notable altering sending-off and cautionable offences inside the penalty area. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule meant that a player who denied a goal-scoring opportunity was automatically red-carded and handed a suspension, as well as giving away a penalty. However, the law has now changed so that players committing accidental fouls, that deny a goal-scoring opportunity, are not automatically sent-off, but cautioned instead. Players will still be sent-off for holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball or having no possibility to play the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball. Referees' powers have also been extended so that they can send-off a player before kick-off, from the official's pre-match pitch inspection onwards. Red cards will still be shown for a number of offences inside the box Announced on Thursday, the new laws also state the ball will also be able to move in any direction from kick-off, rather than only move forward. Players who are injured by a challenge punishable by a yellow or red card can now have quick treatment on the field, rather than having to leave, which previously gave the offending team temporary numerical advantage. IFAB announced last month their intentions to change the laws following a comprehensive, 18-month review, led by former English Premier League referee David Elleray. The IFAB unanimously approved the revision, which they identified as a 'once in a generation' opportunity to address anomalies and inconsistences in the laws.
filbertway Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Good call I reckon, Simon Francis would have got away with a yellow in that case. Will mean we see a lot less goalkeepers sent off for fouling players clean through when they've made a legitimate attempt for the ball. I like it.

What's the capacity - 80,000 - with plans to reduce to 60,000? Upton Park was old school full of largely genuine fans and a brilliant support. Above all, it was loud. I can see the hammers possibly galvanised by this move, becoming another Man City, particularly with the proximity of the City, but no amount of plastic interest is about to fill that stadium overnight. Tuesday night was the first time I've seen the Etihad close to full for months. Can't help feeling that West Ham are losing one of their greatest assets in the long term, with their identity - but as the Captain's excellent post points out, this is a very, very sound business move. Spurs however are being very, very shrewd by building a football ground first. The stands will be looming over the pitch only yards away. IMO, they are emulating the philosophy of the Westfalenstadion and will even have a huge intimidating Kop end in an attempt to engender an atmosphere like the yellow wall. Shame for them they can't ship the fans over too.
SecretPro Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Pearson off to Villa, lining up Chris Powell as his number 2. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/13/nigel-pearson-aston-villa-manager-favourite-chris-powell
ajthefox Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Pretty poor article that. It doesn't link or mention a single bookie who has got him as favourite and there's no reference to anything else that suggests he's going there. Seems odd that he would go to a Forest game if he was speaking with Villa too.
