Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 1/6 with almost all the bookies, they haven't been that mental with any of the other candidates. This might actually be happening... Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Guessing you didn't go to Anfield when Fenton made his debut Also De Vries looked like a world beater during his debut
BigMicky Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Who are you exactly? I did genuine thought this is the case now. Someone who doesn't litter foxestalk with absolute drivel as per all of your contributions. Don't reply I'm not interested.
Aus Fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 No I didn't, but I equally don't judge a players stint on one game! Fair call, but I stand buy the fact that you can count on one hand unsuccessful signings whilst here last time.
mullet Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: “There are some people out there who seem convinced that O’Neill is very close to getting the job if he hasn’t accepted the role already.” Paddy Power have also closed betting on O’Neill, although for now they have kept the rest of the market open. IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING PEOPLE???????????
Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 good luck stringer taking on O'Neill post match !!!
Joepeace09 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Best avaliabe from the names linked, klopp etc was never going to happen. Can't see why people would see it negativly, if it dosnt work out he will still be a legend to the club and we change and if it does work even more a legend and we carry on building.Come home Martin

MPH Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I think you're underestimating people's ability to differentiate between one managerial reign and another. No, Sadly Bert is spot on. You are massively overestimating the majority of Leicester fans!

Aus Fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Also De Vries looked like a world beater during his debut Did De Vries score in his first season with us? Fenton only grabbed the winner at Anfield after coming on as a sub for little Leicester. Fair enough he didn't do to much after that but was really behind a host of other strikers.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Now look at who else he brought in that wasn't a success. Delph isn't their best player, Benteke is, try again. Friedel was a success there, as was Downing. Ashley Young and James Milner. At the time Dunne, Warnock and Carew were all solid for them. Delph now plays for England. That's all of the top of my head. I'm sure there are other good examples, likewise I know there are some bad signings. There isn't one manager in the history of football that has a 100% record with signings - Clough, Ferguson, Wenger etc they've all signed bad players.

Dan Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I honestly think even if he took us down he wouldn't be viewed upon badly. Maybe not as highly as he once was but not in a bad light. We need a lift to be honest. I haven't felt this disillusioned about LCFC since we went down to League One.
talking_goldfish Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Since I heard about this an hour or so ago (yes,I'm a little late to the game, actual working today!) I've had so many conflicting thoughts and emotions it's unreal! We can't have O'Neill, what if it goes wrong? ERMAGHERD, we're getting O'Neill, this is the best thing to happen to us since Pearson Martin O'Neill? Surely not! He's a dinosaur!! Can you imagine the absolute SCENES at the Sunderland game when MON comes parading out of the tunnel?! The best LCFC manager of my lifetime is coming back, yes, this could really work. This is where I am now, I think he is a brilliant candidate for the job, and regardless of what happens I will always remember him as a legend. But what if, just what if he needs us as much as we need him and we just click again. What if we do climb the league and have a chance of a cup or 2?! When Pearson was sacked I was worried about the new season, it's not something I was looking forward too, regardless of the new signings, but now, if this happened, I think I'd be excited again. Hopefully this would also mean there'd be no protests to the owners, we need to be one team. THIS IS OUR TIME!! (he probably won't be coming now)
Mark_w Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 You'd have to be a little bit crazy to think Martin O'Neill did a bad job at Aston Villa. The jury is out, he didn't do a great job at Sunderland and the expectations are very high because of his previous record and because most expected us to really take off under Nigel, so it's not a given that his second reign is going to be popular. But if you think he's a bad manager on the back of achieving more than any other Villa manager in recent memory then there's something wrong with the way you think.
dave_the_fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I was born in 85 so he is one of my all time heroes just seeing his picture makes me weak at the knees!! Would I like him back now? I don't think so, him and the team back then are legendary and I would not want him to come back and spoil anything he did when he was here before Although man imagine the hysteria the Kp would have when and if he was to walk out the tunnel!
johnny the fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 pearson came back... think it worked a little bit for him..
ealingfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 He did a great job at Villa but he did spend a fair bit and he also turned down River Plate's offer of Radamel Falcao for £7million because they had Heskey.
Mark_w Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 pearson came back... think it worked a little bit for him.. In fairness it's very difficult to compare the two scenarios. Nigel Pearson came back after a few years with a lot of what he'd left behind still in place and he still needed some time to adapt as managers do. Martin O'Neill is coming in what about 15 years since he was last here, the transition is going to be nowhere near as easy.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 pearson came back... think it worked a little bit for him.. Different situations though. Pearson left on the back of a play off semi final defeat. His job - you could say - was unfinished... O'Neill guided us to top 10 finishes and three League Cup finals.
queensguardfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Lennon or oneil? Dont know which one i would want!
