Haydos Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 no you compared someone who isnt physically able to play for Barca ever again to someone who is still very able to do the job. THAT is a bad analogy Fair enough, I'm exaggerating for the sake of it. My point was that someone can think he is a legend and still not up to the job. Yet again people are doing anything to ignore the point.
BigMicky Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 My only problem with this is that we'll have high expectations after his first reign and he loses the legacy he created. Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. What's the difference now? Were not in the top 10 and at Wembley every year! Come on Bert, who cares about legacy! It MON!!!
Bakey Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I don't think it will be a good move for him. He's got everything to lose and very little to gain
Babylon Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Ask some Villa fans what they think of him. Villa Fans are idiots... they finished 11th, 6th, 6th, 6th under him. Then they went on to finish 9th, 16th, 15th, 15th, 17th. Yes there were some debatable transfers and he had decent money to spend. But the results can't really be questions overall.

Bramhall Fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 If he would come back as Manager, but keep all the current backroom team, I'd be VERY happy.

Agreeing with babs, WTF have Villa had to shout about since O'Neils departure? Absolutely **** all. They've always been a deluded club anyway.
Babylon Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. He always wanted a larger ground, we have one... plus obviously we want to expand if we stay around for a while.
cc_star Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 BBC SPORT haven't reported it at all They simply said "O'Neill set for Leicester?" Please note the question mark, the story may have legs but it's based on betting, just like the comedy American duo story they also reported on

Strokes Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 My only problem with this is that we'll have high expectations after his first reign and he loses the legacy he created. Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. What's the difference now?Don't expect too much then.
Ricey Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 My only problem with this is that we'll have high expectations after his first reign and he loses the legacy he created. Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. What's the difference now? Did he? I don't recall that. I only remember him saying that Celtic was impossible to turn down. He's said numerous times in interviews since that he often wonders what could have been if he'd stayed at Leicester, with the Heskey money to spend and European football.
Poznan34 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Okay, they were finishing sixth with O'Neill, since he left they have been fighting relegation Unfortunately jobs like villa and Sunderland no manager can be a success unless they are getting champions league, they think that is their level Partly due to their owner stopping throwing the £££ in.
Fox 4 Life Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 If he would come back as Manager, but keep all the current backroom team, I'd be VERY happy. Don't think that is out of the question as he won't have his own as such. Keane was more because of his Irish connection.
Bettsj2 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 My only problem with this is that we'll have high expectations after his first reign and he loses the legacy he created. Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. What's the difference now? The difference is when we left, he'd had a period of time where his transfer activity was restricted (he wanted Hartson but had to settle for Gunlauggson) and the new stadium wasnt in site. We're a different proposition as a club. The club he could take no further no longer exists. The expectation and legacy thing is not relevant. When Clough took Forest down after returning, it didnt stop Forest fans idolising him every spare moment.

Also when he left he said that he'd took us as far as he could. What's the difference now? Bert, What is the cost of having high expectations. Would we not for any manager replacing Pearson. We should have high expectations. This could be just what MON and the club need. Each other. His last great hoorah and us bringing back the prodigal son. What a great story. What is the downside really. if he does a terrible job, then he loses his job just like any manager would, but if he does take us to mid tier or above, then it will be the perfect result.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Agreeing with babs, WTF have Villa had to shout about since O'Neils departure? Absolutely **** all. They've always been a deluded club anyway. Tbf although I agree that they've gone downhill since O'Neill left, I wouldn't call them a deluded club given everything they've won. They are a big club.

Lesteban Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 There are no serious candidates in any bookies list with any history with the club aside from Lennon and O'Neill, both of whom clearly care about the club and it's success. If either were to be appointed and we were to find ourselves in trouble at any point, noone would question their commitment to the club and to the fans. I think most of us would get behind O'Neill and his side in a big way if they needed it, as they did with Nigel. Its hard to guarantee that any manager suggested for the role would make decisions solely for the benefit of Leicester City, particularly younger coaches who often look after their own future as a priority; Lennon and O'Neill are the most likely to put the club first. I would love to see O'Neill back if it meant keeping hold of Shakey and Walsh, hopefully the consistency would appease Cambiasso as well.

Wymsey Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I will be gutted if this doesn't happen now If he turns us down, it seems as if no-one wants the role!
