If he didn't have histroy with the club everyone would be treating this with the same contempt they treated the Hiddink news.

This is a crap appointment.

Sir Alex bought Anderson, Bebe, Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Zaha,Taibi, the list goes on all managers make bad signings, can't think of one O'Neill made here and as stated made many great signings for Villa.

Graham Fenton, and others if I had some time to think!

Interesting, could have some news from Oneill or his manager or the Irish setup.

Would love O'Neill back, if he comes with Lennon and keeps Walsh as head scout I think it could work. Ob keep the science and fitteness guy's there to!

In other news, the board have also arrange for Girls Aloud to make a triumphant come back during half time of the seasons first home game. They are also looking into whether Lazarus is available to perform for the following home game.

Why would Lennon leave his position as Bolton manager to become Martin O'Neill's sidekick? Do people honestly think that's going to happen?

Danny Graham 5 million pounds

To be fair he was Swansea's top scorer that season with double figures league goals for the season, I can see why he paid 5mil at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I would be over the moon with old MoN

If it is him, lets hope he has his old enthusiasm back

Also I'd pay Walsh whatever he wanted to stay on & not just follow NP wherever he goes

Mixed feelings.

On one hand I feel that this is the owners realising they've made a mistake, and their own personal support would come under pressure should they get it wrong - so they bring in someone the fans love. Very Pearce to Forest-esque.

On another hand, the atmosphere against Sunderland will be incredible. Everyone will be behind him and maybe this squad does actually suit him like it did Pearson?

Given the other candidates, I think I'm on the go for it camp. I'm cautious, but we could do worse, and probably will.

1/8 on SkyBet!!!! Jesus.

Agree. If anything it'd be the other way around.

I've decided I'm also keen. Don't think he'd want to tear up the foundations in place after seeing what happened when Taylor did the same to us. If we can keep the background staff in place and O'Neill comes in to take over Pearson's role I'd be very happy for that.

im quite optimistic that this won't happen

Optimistic? Would you rather have that 3rd division USA bloke?

I'm not over the moon but far from disappointed, I think the opinion is due to the past week we have experienced with a few scares along the way though.

I was far from keen on the idea of MON when we were linked with him before this week.

Could do better but it's an adequate appointment.

Regarding his Ireland career. He's only lost once in the Euro 2016 group so far and got a point in Germany.

I also think this Ireland squad is one of the weakest for years.
