Money talks - with all the transfer fees paid for (now) former Villa players (Benteke and Delph went for a combined £40m), they can offer a much more attractive financial package.

Villa Park is also an impressive stadium, old-fashioned and a bit derelict, but impressive nonetheless. Birmingham also has a slightly bigger metropolitan area and they've got a larger transport hub with the airport and all.

How much of that will be available for the manager to spend though, given that the owner is/was trying to sell the club.

They've already invested roughly £26m on new players - not the sign of an owner who's currently keen on selling.

It's a sign of an owner aiming to invest modestly to hopefully make the club attractive enough to recoup some if the massive losses he has madewhen sold.

They've received coin from the sales of Benteke and Delph. They have to invest to stay up for prospective buyers. Learner will lose millions if Villa go down.
