Well regardless, he still had the option to sign another contract, and he didn't. Also, does Aranguiz seem the type of player to 'ride out a deal'? Evidently not!

Leverkusen offering 500k more does nothing but strengthen our position.

 

They will have to meet Inter's valuation, or match our bid - anything less is a mark of disrespect to the owner and player.

 

If I was Aranguiz and I saw Leverkusen only offered half a mill more, i'd be a little disrespected.

To put it into perspective, Leverkusen are owned by Bayer a major pharmaceutical company, one of a few teams in the Bundesliga actually owned 100% by a company, the other main one being Wolfsburg who are owned by VW. This gives them enormous financial superiority over the majority of average and mediocre Bundesliga teams who can't be owned in majority by a company / billionaire typhoon like say Chelsea. Which is why Wolfsburg / Leverkusen challenge for top 4 every season. 

 

The financial strains of the Bundesliga outside of Munich is staggering in comparison to the Prem, where Manchester City can buy the league, Bournemouth could potentially do the same if they so please. Leverkusen can stump up the cash for Aranguiz if they wanted to, Bayer choose to have Leverkusen be self-sufficient, for the reason they sell their best players when they can make money from them.
