Woollett's Wellies Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Tired from travelling? They dont drive there you know. Few hours sat in first class on a plane is hardly fookin tiring. Back in my day we used to walk to away games, thought nowt of a 50 mile hike, game of footy, then a jog home. Tell the kids of today that, they wont believe you. Are you telling me you didn't have to do six hours on the treadmill at the gas mantle factory before setting off??? You must be some sort of toff and/or gaffer!
tom_lcfc86 Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I can't believe Roy hasn't played him up front, embarrassing how much Roy likes Kane. Club form plays zero part in what happens for England simples...
fuchsntf Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Forgotten about Welbeck, but he's not been clinical enough to be one of the first choices. Sturridge and Kane for me. Rooney is better in a supporting role for the front two, as he's lost pace but still tricky on the ball and good awareness. Welbeck started his Int.career scoring better than for Manutd.levelled out a bit.Still got 14 behind him. Sturridge was looking good before his injury, but also not prolific. So still needs to prove himself again. Welbeck also. Both of them in front of Vardy or Kane. Sterling, not living upto his billing yet.Walcott re-establishing his international potential.Trying to convince people he wants a central roll.I would give him an opportunity, next to Sturridge or Welbeck, with Rooney behind. Rooney not performing to some peoples expectations, but continues to score. I want Rooney as our striker, and told to stay there, not stepping into Barclays or chosen nr 10 playing area.
The whole world smiles Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 People seem to be making a lot of excuses for Vardy here.... 'Oh his teammates aren't passing to him' and 'oh he's being played out of position' and 'the other team are defending deep' and 'roy is playing the wrong system. this is nonsense if he wants to make the step up and be considered a true international player he will have to impose himself on games regardless of his position, the teams system and how deep the opposition are defending. Vardy has had two unbelievable opportunitys to impress for England with competitive starts against Lithuania and San Marino and looked pretty pedestrian in both. I love Jamie Vardy and was\am desperate for him to do well for England but couldn't blame Roy if that's the the last we see of him in the 3 lions hope he gets another chance though. Also can't understand people slagging Kane Think he looks pretty good in an England shirt and still young.
Vardinhio Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Kane had a great game tonight, he took the ball down welll and hit the target nearlly everytime he shot. I love Vardy but he looks lost and afraid to impose himself like he does here at LCFC. I hope he gets a shot against spain but it just isn't in the England nature to chuck long balls in to the corner for him to chase.
Jimmy Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Vardy was the pits tonight. He'd be more effective versus Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil etc...... I just don't think teams like San Marino and Lithuania utilise his capabilities..... Saying this he really looks uninterested to say the least. I think LCFC and Vardy just work- they're made for each other. Well when he did make the runs Kane and Barkley were too busy being selfishThe big sides play for the team and could care less who scores but not England, they just see the headlines, that's why Vardy's assist Friday was so good

Though nature of injuries, might see Vardy hang around, until a new boy on the block pops up. I was also expecting to see Vardy impose himself especially in his last 45 minutes. Kane forced his play, and made sure he got reasonable shots off, whether it ended as an own goal or not, it was him taking a great shot that caused the goal Embarrasing to have so many spitefull posters on our forum..l
ozleicester Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 You walked 50 miles to a football match, played the football matched then ran that double marathon home. Somehow I don't believe you. Pffft, bloody kids today

His success with us is has mainly been playing as the highest man up the pitch on the shoulder hassling and pressing. He's not a winger/wide player.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Mark Pougatch is a bit of a prat as well isn't he Pougatch by name, pougatch by nature
Dickov22 Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 I love Vardy but he was really poor I thought. I think if you've played football, you know how difficult it is to be played out of position. Doesn't matter what level you're at, it's still so hard to adapt. Roy isn't giving him much of a chance. It's almost as if he thought by leaving him on for the full 90, he then becomes exempt from any criticism that he 'hasn't given him ample opportunity'. Actually, he'd have done him more favours if he'd subbed him off. Vardy was poor though and it's unsurprising to see England fans who aren't Leicester fans criticising him, saying he's out of his depth. He's just not the same player we see on any level. The aggression is gone, he seems scared to shoot or run with the ball, he's completely disciplined in keeping his position when we don't have the ball etc etc. I thought he was dross. I don't know what people's problem is with Kane? Id rather we picked him than Rooney on current form. He's so hungry, looks to shoot at every opportunity and is young and still learning. If he can start scoring for Spurs (which he will) then he's a dead cert for the Euros.

Nalis Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 What would this place be like if Kane scored the winning goal in the Euro 2016 final?
suffolk fox Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Personally if that was a lesson in how to shatter a players confidence then Woy and Ingerland did a pretty good job. Looked to me for large parts of the game he was playing as a wingback with Kane being the only forward. There were times when both Kane and Gibbs could have played it down the line to him or even a simple pass to the left would have played him in neither chose to do so. Vardy Became frustrated and hence a shot that went way over the bar. Trying to change a players game and performance from the normal does not work. It was like watching Vardy with a ball and chain around his ankle. Come back to Lcfc Jamie and do what you do best. Oh one last point Glenn Hoddle talks some shite no wonder Muzzy Izzet hated him the mans a tool.
Dickov22 Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 The clumsy foul he committed on the edge of the area summed him up. Frustrated
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 If Vardy is not played to his strengths there is literally no point playing him. He's a centre forward, playing off the last defender. Hodgson's brand of football (possession, slow build-up) will never suit Vardy. I'm glad he's stayed injury free and is coming back to City where he is given license to play his natural game. Personally, I don't give Hodgson the time of day, despite qualification. This young England team has got incredible potential to really succeed at the top level. I fear Hodgson, at Tournament level will hamstring the lot of them and the potential they have will be stagnated. I hope I'm wrong but have a feeling we won't perform as well against the really good sides.

Jon the Hat Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Seriously Dull. We will get murdered by decent sides playing the way we have in this group. Completely agree with playing Vardy out of position, what is the point really. Ooh he is quick he can play out wide. That went well. I think the best we can hope for is Roy leaves after the Euros and someone with a bit of vision comes in and tries to turn these young crop into something. We should ditch this idea that International football management is an old mans game at give it to Gary Neville or someone else just out of their playing career.
Callabinho Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Your ten game run has been against, let's face it pathetic opposition. England's friendlies will be a horrible wake up call, France (my favourites to win) will tear you a new one, Spain will methodically tear you a new one, we shall tactically tear you a new one in Berlin, and when it comes to the euros you'll end up in the easiest group, somehow crawl out of it and then get shafted in the first round of knockouts.

Based on qualifying England will be in the 1st pool drawn for the groups at the Euros so they will probably get through the group stages but I'd expect them to really struggle when they have to meet a decent team, the possession game won't work against decent opposition and I'd expect that the tough friendlies lined up before the Euros will break the confidence of the team, Roy won't have a decent B game plan.
dannythefox Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 At the end of the day if vardy scores say 14 goals this season he'll be on that plane Roy can't not pick him. But to be honest if he's not going to be played in his best position I'd rather him not go because last night didn't do him justice.
GorlestonFox Posted 13 October 2015 Posted 13 October 2015 Hallelujah! Thanks for clearing that up filbertstreet Okazaki wasnt a Leicester player then.
